Pets
January is a tough time for shelters. Puppies and kittens are a popular gift for Christmas, but by the time January and February roll around, local shelters are hit by a wave of unwanted Christmas presents. When the novelty of the gift wears off, puppies and kittens are unloaded on shelters in droves, often overwhelming them.
I got my cat from a shelter, and I've been planning on making a large donation to the shelter I got her from. Here she is, by the way.
If you'd like to join with me and contribute to the shelter, I am selling metal customs of the above Oske lineart for $10.00. Half will go to the shelter I'm donating to. With your purchase you'll be sent this item, which you can use to upload your kitty in a box:
Shelter Hearts
If you have a shelter in your town, consider stopping by and giving them a donation - money, pet food, anything you can afford. Right now, they really need it.
Please don't donate to the huge national organizations like Humane Society (do some research on them). They don't help your local shelter.
Thanks.

Donated twenty bucks~
All I had, otherwise it would have been more ^^;; And I've never adopted from a shelter, but I always go through the classifieds to find cats [since I hate dogs] that need to be adopted. 'Tis how I got my last like... 5 cats.

Oh, this is so wonderful! All three of the cats I've had came from our local shelters, and one of mine had just been pulled from a kill shelter, where she was next on the list, when I adopted her. I can't imagine living without my wonderful Lily, and am so thankful to the organization that saved her. Sadly, I have no excess funds right now, or they would be going to that adoption agency. But I love that Aywas is doing this!

I just adopted a puppy from a shelter. They were going to put him down because they were short on room.

I'm hoping I can manage to find $10 to spare before the event ends (broke from unexpected meds cost this month). One of my two current cats is from a shelter (Gatomon, the little white fluffball of cuteness), and my late kitty Scar was also from a shelter.

For the relative n00b, this would be a no-lineart-changes-allowed custom that I'd have to color myself? Already donated, but I'm not sure if I'm talent enough to color my own....
We got our two kitties straight from the mom (an indoor-outdoor cat who got herself preggers...they would've ended up in a shelter if we hadn't wanted them, and were a lot cheaper this way and we got them at a younger age and they were sooo adorable! <3).

I have had several rescue pets (right now 2 cats and one dog) and they have all be wonderful additions to my family. This is a great idea and I am so glad that you are doing this :)

The PSD for the Kitty in a box is not Gimp friendly. It comes out so horrid that I can't even begin to fix it. It looks like a toddler scribbled it. Is it possible to get one that is Gimp friendly?

I really wish I could afford this - I not only love the lineart, but I am a big supporter to rescues. I actually work with a non-profit rescue, and all every cat I've ever had has been a rescue (Even if it was just being rescued from my dad's basement!). Unfortunately, I dont have money to spare, only my time. I currently work at a vet's office, helping newly adopted pets get healthy, and since we're attached to a store that has a cat rescue (Non profit organization) I help them to keep their cats healthy, as best I can. Cleaning ears, checking for fleas, that kind of thing.
