Shelter Event

Pets

January is a tough time for shelters. Puppies and kittens are a popular gift for Christmas, but by the time January and February roll around, local shelters are hit by a wave of unwanted Christmas presents. When the novelty of the gift wears off, puppies and kittens are unloaded on shelters in droves, often overwhelming them.

I got my cat from a shelter, and I've been planning on making a large donation to the shelter I got her from. Here she is, by the way.

If you'd like to join with me and contribute to the shelter, I am selling metal customs of the above Oske lineart for $10.00. Half will go to the shelter I'm donating to. With your purchase you'll be sent this item, which you can use to upload your kitty in a box:

If you have a shelter in your town, consider stopping by and giving them a donation - money, pet food, anything you can afford. Right now, they really need it.

Please don't donate to the huge national organizations like Humane Society (do some research on them). They don't help your local shelter.

Thanks.

I so so so wish I could donate, but sadly I can't. D: I'm too young.

I just spent a load of money, but I will donate in a few days when I earn some. <3

I adopted my kitten two months ago from a nearby vet clinic, myself. It's not quite a shelter, but he was a stray kitten (four months old). I'm glad I adopted him because he is possibly the best thing that's happened to me thus far.

Cute~!!!! I'm so glad this kind of event is being done. :3 Its what I always suggest whenever anyone asks about events.

My Christmas present from my aunt and uncle this past year (and for two years previous) was a donation to my local no-kill shelter. They are fantastic people, and they don't get nearly the amount of help financially or otherwise that they need.

I'm a bit tight on money, but I do volunteer at my local shelter once a week. What Slash says is true, there are a few new kittens a week for about two months after Christmas. It's really pretty sad.

My cat didn't come from a shelter . the neighbors house burnt down when he was a kitten and they left him there. he was half starved before he was abandoned. its 15 years later and i still have him. he is a health and happy cat.

I have a cat rescue ( allcatsrescue.org ) and it is so true. We have a waiting list 12 miles long of people wanting to "get rid of" the present cat they got for christmas. :( I have 3 fosters here now. One sadly will not be ready for a long time, she was very abused, cringes at the slightest unexpected movement. And shes only 5 months old.
