Shelter Event

Pets

January is a tough time for shelters. Puppies and kittens are a popular gift for Christmas, but by the time January and February roll around, local shelters are hit by a wave of unwanted Christmas presents. When the novelty of the gift wears off, puppies and kittens are unloaded on shelters in droves, often overwhelming them.

I got my cat from a shelter, and I've been planning on making a large donation to the shelter I got her from. Here she is, by the way.

If you'd like to join with me and contribute to the shelter, I am selling metal customs of the above Oske lineart for $10.00. Half will go to the shelter I'm donating to. With your purchase you'll be sent this item, which you can use to upload your kitty in a box:

Shelter Hearts

If you have a shelter in your town, consider stopping by and giving them a donation - money, pet food, anything you can afford. Right now, they really need it.

Please don't donate to the huge national organizations like Humane Society (do some research on them). They don't help your local shelter.

Thanks.

I didn't get my puppy from a shelter, the shelter back home claimed they had no outdoor dogs, and we weren't sure if we were going to have an outdoor or indoor dog (they lied... they had some amazing purebred hunting dogs)

So, we got our puppy from one of my orchestra conductors for free... he's an adorable mutt.

and I would give as well.. but poor college student with no monies :(

We got our kitty from a shelter. We don't have money to donate, but we're always giving our spare linens and blankets!

I rescued my dog from a shelter, and will continue to do so for all the animals I will ever have. I wouldn't even consider any other way. Donated! :)

We're actually volunteering at our local non-chapter Humane Society. We've donated food to them too. If you can't donated monies or food, try and make some time to help out. Most shelters will love you for it.

I have no support for my local shelter. It's run by some pretty corrupt people. =/ It's a shame. But for other shelters, I give full support.

I work at my local shelther on a weekly bases training, walking and socializing the dogs as well as exercising the cat. Every small time home shelter is is in need of people to help with the animal care as much as they need supplys. If you dont have extra cash donate your time instead.
