Cat in need

Site Update

Update: Fire Deja (#1163) has contacted the shelter but lives in California. They can hold the cat until tonight. Slash is willing to cover the cost to ship the cat, but we need a Florida person to actually go in TODAY and adopt the cat so that he can be transported to Deja.

M-M-Mini + LizzyLiz (#567) has an urgent message to Florida Aywasians:

Do you know anyone who lives near Tampa Bay, Florida who could adopt a cat? There's a really sweet black cat that's due to be killed in a few hours if he can't find a home or enough pledges or a rescue.

His info:

6/6 SIGNED OFF FOR EUTH!!! ARGUS WILL BE EUTHANIZED EARLY IN THE MORNING! If you can adopt, adopt-to-rehome, or rescue, you MUST email [email protected] BEFORE 9AM with the words DO NOT EUTH and the Animal ID# in the subject line (serious adopters and rescues only). Include you name and contact information and let the shelter know you can pick up the cat tomorrow. MUST BE PICKED UP TOMORROW!! You can also try calling the shelter starting at 8AM at 813-744-5660 to make sure your email was seen.

Has he been saved yet?!
I'll call my friend down there and see if he can grab him for me and I'll just have to have him shipped here (Or to whoever wanted him as I wont be able to keep him but I will find him a great home)

I love love cats! And I do live in Florida, but not near tempa! I would totally adopt him but most of my family is allergic to cats. The only person who could adopt is my Aunt, she adopted 2 dogs and a cat. Maybe I could send her the message on facebook?

Oh Oh no! D: I hope it can be saved! D: I would get it if I didn't live on the complete opposite side of the US and my mom would let us get another cat. D:

Poor kitty! I hope someone got this guy :<

And not to be rude or anything, but it's not just this cat... There are hundreds, thousands, of animals who are put to sleep every single day simply because there is no room for them.. I've worked in a shelter before, and animals that are there one day will be gone the next - and not to a new home. And it's mostly cats, since people can just get them for free from a neighbor, or off Craigslist or something similar, whereas dogs typically cost money no matter where you go.

I wish I still am in Florida, even if it's a short vacation, and that my mom wouldn't be so strict about our house and let me have a pet ;n;

Very - tragically - true, Ginger, but we all have to start somewhere...and showcasing this little guy will help raise awareness for ALL shelter victims, I hope.

June is Shelter Cat Month - perhaps the site can sponsor some kind of adoption/fostering/donations (cash or items) drive for ALL shelters, not just a particukar one, not that people should need a site reward for doing what they know is the right thing. Even an hour or so of volunteer time, or an old clean blanket helps...and if shelters are shown an aware, caring community, they will be less likely to euthanise as soon. This DOES work, guys, I've organised similar initiatives in many shelters.

Yeah, I agree with ginger kid. There's THOUSANDS of pets that are put down everyday, and somehow we need to pay attention to THIS one? It's sad, but this cat's case isn't more or less special than the thousands you'll never see because they were put down. In fact, all pets in shelter just need as much attention as this cat, and aywas shouldn't become a place where we're going to spam ads like this because a certain person thought a black cat was more special than other pets. Aywas, you can raise awareness by telling people about adopting, most people won't have the transportation/time/money just to save a particular cat in 1 american city, they could easily go to their local rescue shelter and adopt from there.
