Cat in need

Site Update

Update: Fire Deja (#1163) has contacted the shelter but lives in California. They can hold the cat until tonight. Slash is willing to cover the cost to ship the cat, but we need a Florida person to actually go in TODAY and adopt the cat so that he can be transported to Deja.

M-M-Mini + LizzyLiz (#567) has an urgent message to Florida Aywasians:

Do you know anyone who lives near Tampa Bay, Florida who could adopt a cat? There's a really sweet black cat that's due to be killed in a few hours if he can't find a home or enough pledges or a rescue.

His info:

6/6 SIGNED OFF FOR EUTH!!! ARGUS WILL BE EUTHANIZED EARLY IN THE MORNING! If you can adopt, adopt-to-rehome, or rescue, you MUST email [email protected] BEFORE 9AM with the words DO NOT EUTH and the Animal ID# in the subject line (serious adopters and rescues only). Include you name and contact information and let the shelter know you can pick up the cat tomorrow. MUST BE PICKED UP TOMORROW!! You can also try calling the shelter starting at 8AM at 813-744-5660 to make sure your email was seen.

Those who wish to donate - do NOT wait for 10am Monday and a phone - email your willingness, the shelter is staffed 7 days a week and they WILL look at emails.

Donut, while this cat may not be any more deserving than the thousands of others awaiting homes or fosters (and yes, many of them are also on deathwatch lists), showing a graphic example is worth a million speeches about helping shelters and saving cats. And if we CAN save this guy, there's one less gone forever...not to mention inspiring all who see this post to try to help other cats/shelters.

That's not spam. That's a small but critical step in the right direction.

Hope this ends well. It is a sad fact that shelters are seriously over crowded and most of the cats/dogs they rescue end up being euthanized sadly due to lack of space. Major case with cats as well here anyways where I live, most ppl for once let them all go outside and second rarely spay/neuter them which obviously causes a huge overpopulation of stray cats.

I always told myself that my first cat or dog would come from a shelter and my cat came from one and I am super happy to have taken her in. I hate how animals are so often left to fend for themselves...

Um, are we just going to ignore the fact that there's another cat in there that's probably in the same situation as Argus? o.o

The only update I have is I woke up to an email from the shelter saying they don't accept individual pledges :(

I hope Deja was able to work something out!

I live in Utah, otherwise I would adopt/foster him. I hope someone can :(

Awwww I sure hope he's spared from being euthanized :( It's so sad... my favorite shelter where I give all my donations is Happily Ever After - a no-kill facility. It takes a lot of donations to keep these facilities afloat.

Thank you so much for all of your efforts to rescue!!

He looks like such a sassy little fur-baby. If I lived in the same Country I'd travel day and night to save him. My wishes and blessings on him. Such a cutie. - L
