Just in time for the holidays~

collectable_candycane.pngcollectable_snowflake.png

I know that everyone is looking forward to the Holiday Lane opening, don't worry it hasn't been forgotten! We have been experiencing some shop glitches(all admin side) so we're behind on a few things. The pets are going to be stocked and it will be open shortly, however I do want to forwarn everyone that we will be having a new currency! One of the major points of feedback we have received is how older users get an advantage when it comes to events. So to help with this we are going to begin having the events with a non-item currency, so this currency will not be tradeable and everyone will start fresh every year.
We will be trying to think of a trade in for all your candy canes and snowflakes that you have been sitting on for the past few years, but they will not be the main currency this year.

collectable_angrypumpkin.png

Speaking of our feedback! We have finally finished compiling all of the comments we got and we are thrilled with the amount of feedback! There was several comments specifically stating that they loved the anonymous feedback, without worrying about what the other users will think of them or their opinions. Due to this we are intending on doing this more often, however it also brings us a great deal of sadness how many people stated that they were actually afraid to post their opinions where other users could see it.

That isn't right. I know that Aywas is going through quite a bit right now, but we are all a large family. Nobody should be afraid of any others, and Staff will not tolerate abuse. So I wish to remind everyone, if you are being harassed, if somebody is insulting you, or even just bothering you, whether it is on a thread, pet comments, news comments, PM's, anywhere, please contact one of our moderators. That is what they are here for. To help make you feel comfortable.

Now, I am going to go through and address several points that were brought up in the closed comments but to prevent cluttering up the news post further please come over to this thread if you are curious~

Like Dren mentioned I was thinking of any exchange being points to points, definitely not the ability to trade currency for a currency item since that would just defeat the purpose. I would love if staff could consider adding in the ability to just straight up transfer event points during those similar to how to move gp/bp. That way people can sell the points during the grinding part of the event, and not feel pressured to do sales in the few days shops are generally open.

☆Jesse☆ Treats! (#31320) - Our job is to make events enjoyable and accessible to all users, whether they've been here 8 years or 8 days. There are other elements about the site where age and saving will always have a benefit, but events is not somewhere where that should be so. Changing how the currency works means easier collection for all users, lower prices in the shops, and hopefully it will make that aspect of Aymas more enjoyable for more people.

AremRae (#3998) - We will take it into consideration but as we have a lot of Aymas preparations to make we cannot promise that a decision, or action, will be feasible this year - but we will strive to do what we can.

Curious also, why/how is the shop holding up the rest?

Just knowing it's being considered is lovely thank you Eve ^^ I think it would round out a nice compromise for future events, even if it takes a little while to implement if it is agreed on. It would just allow the community to trade with each other a little easier, and encourage community trading in general where I think limiting it a bit more would discourage that for a lot of people. With us trying to strengthen community bonds, if it isn't too difficult to code in I think it would be a lovely step.

Eve (#2775) Makes sense. I just hope it works out that well in practice. Not a huge fan about this being sprung on us so soon. Maybe woulda preferred a warning sooner or let the new rules affect the next event.

I'm really disappointed in this new currency idea. I depend on being able to buy it from friends and such so I am not stressed on getting it during the events (especially ones during when I have to work). Now, I have no choice but to get it cuz like I've seen a few others say I like to have control of that stuff. Control freak? Yes, I am. :( This feels like a kick in the teeth to the 'older' members. We've been loyal, but that doesn't mean anything. I do feel like we should have a bit of an advantage for sticking around. *sigh* Yes, I read where we'll get some turn in for what we have, but how is that any different then having an advantage (which is what you're trying to get rid of)? Or is it going to be something not really worth our while, so we wasted our money or time on grabbing extra knowing it would be able to be used the following year? I understand the change, but I don't like it one bit.

Hmmm, if this means that the currency will actually drop more and hopefully make prices more reasonable in the shops (not that I really felt there were truly unreasonable prices in event shops) then I think this will be a positive change.

I am all for having event items be relatively easily accessible to the player base (IE, putting in a reasonable* amount of effort will get you most if not all of the items you want from the event) with having the rare and hard to get items being regular items that are available most of the time (but could potentially retire)

*reasonable would be determined by the staff.

And I have to agree with ☆Jesse☆ Treats! (#31320), I would have been more open to this had it not been sprung on us to close to the event. I mean, I bought currency for this in October from a friend that doesn't participate here much, and now, it's practically worthless. :/

ChaosAzeroth (#43055) - As it required our coder's full attention, it means that other coding efforts had to be put on hold. It was unfortunate timing, but something we could not prevent, but we hope that things will be able to get rolled out soon!

AremRae (#3998) - I completely understand. I think because we've had such success with events that used currency in the same way, we didn't think there should be any issues with the change. Of course, all changes take time to get accustomed to, and we sadly didn't get to announce this as soon as we had hoped so people were warned and ready ^^;;

☆Jesse☆ Treats! (#31320)- Absolutely we should have announced this sooner, sadly things got so busy that while it as important to us it still managed to get pushed to the wayside. This is something we're working on improving as it's not fair to spring such large changes at such short notice. We still hold hope that as this has been a very successful way for currency to work with events in the past, that this will be a lot more popular a change once people settle into it!

weezee 🦉 (#107) - We've had a lot of ideas of what to do with old currencies that will yield rewards that people would enjoy, but we're taking it very seriously that people will expect some bang for their buck and don't want to rush into announcing any ideas until we feel certain it's going to please people. Or as certain as we can be. Mostly there will be a lot of hoping ^^;

I believe a trade-in is going to be worked out so the currency you bought will not be ultimately useless!

I'm personally excited for this change. I've never had the patience to sit and adventure for a long time because clicking sucks. Since the actual currency collecting is going to be easier now though (correct me if I'm wrong?), that means I can multitask while gathering! ^^
