Just in time for the holidays~

collectable_candycane.pngcollectable_snowflake.png

I know that everyone is looking forward to the Holiday Lane opening, don't worry it hasn't been forgotten! We have been experiencing some shop glitches(all admin side) so we're behind on a few things. The pets are going to be stocked and it will be open shortly, however I do want to forwarn everyone that we will be having a new currency! One of the major points of feedback we have received is how older users get an advantage when it comes to events. So to help with this we are going to begin having the events with a non-item currency, so this currency will not be tradeable and everyone will start fresh every year.
We will be trying to think of a trade in for all your candy canes and snowflakes that you have been sitting on for the past few years, but they will not be the main currency this year.

collectable_angrypumpkin.png

Speaking of our feedback! We have finally finished compiling all of the comments we got and we are thrilled with the amount of feedback! There was several comments specifically stating that they loved the anonymous feedback, without worrying about what the other users will think of them or their opinions. Due to this we are intending on doing this more often, however it also brings us a great deal of sadness how many people stated that they were actually afraid to post their opinions where other users could see it.

That isn't right. I know that Aywas is going through quite a bit right now, but we are all a large family. Nobody should be afraid of any others, and Staff will not tolerate abuse. So I wish to remind everyone, if you are being harassed, if somebody is insulting you, or even just bothering you, whether it is on a thread, pet comments, news comments, PM's, anywhere, please contact one of our moderators. That is what they are here for. To help make you feel comfortable.

Now, I am going to go through and address several points that were brought up in the closed comments but to prevent cluttering up the news post further please come over to this thread if you are curious~

I'm a relatively new user (been around for 1 year now) and I don't see any problems with accumulating extra currency for the future uses. I started to do that myself just in case next time I won't be able to spend as much time on collecting stuff (I rarely buy currencies from other users during events, because it's usually the peak of the cost). I like adventuring tho, so it saves the day when I need smth.

I think when you have extras you're more willing to share/trade/sell them, so I'm not sure of how it's going to turn out with account-bound currency that's gonna be wiped out at the end of event (if you don't get enough currencies for "big shot" highly wanted items in time or have some hard earned leftover that can purchase only "low tier" items that everybody already got on their own).
I feel a bit sad for older players who got disheartened with this change (in case they have big amount of event currencies stored), I guess I'm more lucky here with being somewhat new and having nothing to lose X') My first event (last year's Halloween) was wasted, I got too busy getting BP, spending 1k felt like a big no-no back then and everything looked too confusing and evermoving, haha XD

While I'm a just a little bit bummed about upcoming changes for currency thing, I do respect the decision that staff made and I hope all of the changes are for better and well thought through. We'll see how it goes :')

I prefer to sell currency for the simple 'I don't know what the other person wants - what if I buy and sell crappy items and no one needs them? I'd rather sell the few points someone needs to get the real thing THEY want personally'
I guess it will be what it is but that's my two cents on the 'just sell the items' logic.

also if you have been on here long enough to have earned your event currency (and in my case it was earned through hours of clicking and I was so happy that time put in last year could have saved me not having time to participate this year... that does kindof suck. The time and effort was still there! it just means that the older users have enjoyed playing for so long.

I don't actually have a huge stockpile despite being an old user - I tend to get just enough to spend each year, save some extra for when I might not have the time (so I at least get SOMETHING, and try and get my pet collection. And that's enough for me. I'm sad for the people who really counted on having it or spent a lot last year to prep up for this one.

With the way Aywas seems to be running the past few years Iā€™m not surprised that a lot of older users i recognized have left.

Iā€™m indifferent either way because as usual youā€™ll stick the seasonal shop with worthless HA items. Every single year itā€™s more HA and less useful items. Itā€™s getting to the point where thereā€™s just no point in really participating in events. As a person who refuses to use the HA system this is something pretty obvious to me. Iā€™ve watched this happen over time.

I WOULD have been upset about this change but Iā€™ve been upset about a lot of them already. Aywas is just not as fun as it used to be.

There should be no issue with users being able to save up currency. I really hate currency that expires. I have some years where I only can collect may a few tiny pieces of currency that I cannot use due to being too busy. I feel better knowing I can just save them for later.

Reading up. I like HA items. Variety is fun. I agree that it's nice being able to buy currency from others if you REALLY want something.

I am just a collector - I don't have the time to adventure for currency or pets and usually buy currency to use in the store after the event. If I can't trade for the currency then .. hmm. Why not re-set the currency after the event, so you can't stack it for the following year, but make it trade-able during the event?

I'm a little sad about not being able to use old currency, I mean, it's not like people didn't work hard to have the amount they still have to use on the following year, some people paid for it, some people grinded for it, some people profited on it, some people helped others with it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who tried to keep a stash just in case real life weren't so kind on us the following year, so not to miss out on that year's items entirely. Or people who simply can't play much during this time of the year and choose to buy it from other people.

Hopefully it won't be a complete removal of that system. :c Specially considering that if older members have an "advantage" (how is it even a competition for it to matter?) it also means they can spare helping more newbies in the long run.
