Just in time for the holidays~
I know that everyone is looking forward to the Holiday Lane opening, don't worry it hasn't been forgotten! We have been experiencing some shop glitches(all admin side) so we're behind on a few things. The pets are going to be stocked and it will be open shortly, however I do want to forwarn everyone that we will be having a new currency! One of the major points of feedback we have received is how older users get an advantage when it comes to events. So to help with this we are going to begin having the events with a non-item currency, so this currency will not be tradeable and everyone will start fresh every year.
We will be trying to think of a trade in for all your candy canes and snowflakes that you have been sitting on for the past few years, but they will not be the main currency this year.
Speaking of our feedback! We have finally finished compiling all of the comments we got and we are thrilled with the amount of feedback! There was several comments specifically stating that they loved the anonymous feedback, without worrying about what the other users will think of them or their opinions. Due to this we are intending on doing this more often, however it also brings us a great deal of sadness how many people stated that they were actually afraid to post their opinions where other users could see it.
That isn't right. I know that Aywas is going through quite a bit right now, but we are all a large family. Nobody should be afraid of any others, and Staff will not tolerate abuse. So I wish to remind everyone, if you are being harassed, if somebody is insulting you, or even just bothering you, whether it is on a thread, pet comments, news comments, PM's, anywhere, please contact one of our moderators. That is what they are here for. To help make you feel comfortable.
Now, I am going to go through and address several points that were brought up in the closed comments but to prevent cluttering up the news post further please come over to this thread if you are curious~

While you cannot gift or sell the currency now you can still buy the items and gift or sell them like people do with the mermaid purse. The reasoning behind this is for more than just to make it fair across the board but it will help with the issue we are having with rarities, and you will be able to find several currencies at once.
There will always be an advantage that people who don't work or go to school have over people with real life responsibilities, there is no way to adjust for that, however it is not nearly as big of a difference as "old" players and "new" players.

I never worried about anyone harassing me because I knew Aywas Staff would be there for me and that's what I'd like to say to everyone else: Don't be afraid, Aywas is and always has been a safe space for differing opinions. We may not always agree, but Staff's there to make sure anyone wanting to turn it nasty will be spoken to.

This actually makes me feel less motivation, as often I end up with too much when I am motivated and the only thing that keeps me motivated is the thought if I don't need it I can sell it. Also makes adventure feel shafted as presented now... If adventure is slowly cut out it doesn't feel like it's going to be a priority and instead pushed aside. Which small picture in events is one thing but overall likely continue with everyday play being boring and people being antsy and irritable between events.
Even if this isn't the case these are concerns this creates in myself at least. Still excited to see what happens just knowing probably will be hurt by lack of motivation.

And now I am not going to be able to do events and that depresses me very much. I always buy tons of currency from those who can adventure and I gift away the currency to people who need it. I find this very inconvenient. I can't blame you. I get why. Just for me it really really sucks ;;

Saphire <3 Lassombra (#407) You can still just buy the items, like Chaos jsut said they find it harder to sell the items than the currency so go maybe talk through with them? Or see if someone else will adventure for you and get currency to buy your items. I am the same, trust me, I can't stand adventure, don't have time for it or patience. I am always buying the items after the event or during the event.
ChaosAzeroth (#43055) You can still sell the items, like I just told 407 maybe you guys should hook up and sell your excess items to them. Adventure isn't being cut out, so I'm not super sure where that one came from, but this will help balance the rarity issue with currency.

QFE "Having the older currency that's tradable go away if really sad. With work and school it's hard for a lot of players to get the currency some times unless they trade with other users to get it. So going to a "during event only" currency makes it so that people who don't work / have mobile devices that can access aywas when not at home have an advantage that people who actually have to work for a living or are in school more so than older members who would have had a lot saved up. Because there would be no way to trade the items to balance out the economy."
I'm like so so close to a full time job and as is I'm usually too busy or too sick to sit and adventure, and I love that I could take comfort in buying/trading if I don't explore much.
Similarly, collecting items to sell is beneficial for newbies! It's something I always see brought up when people complain about not making money on here. I really hope staff reconsiders.

I just wanna say for those who will be mad not being able to use the old currency... They said they will have a trade in option for them so they will not be completely useless. So please don't get mad or even upset.
The staff is trying their best afterall! (Each and every one of them!)
