Just in time for the holidays~
I know that everyone is looking forward to the Holiday Lane opening, don't worry it hasn't been forgotten! We have been experiencing some shop glitches(all admin side) so we're behind on a few things. The pets are going to be stocked and it will be open shortly, however I do want to forwarn everyone that we will be having a new currency! One of the major points of feedback we have received is how older users get an advantage when it comes to events. So to help with this we are going to begin having the events with a non-item currency, so this currency will not be tradeable and everyone will start fresh every year.
We will be trying to think of a trade in for all your candy canes and snowflakes that you have been sitting on for the past few years, but they will not be the main currency this year.
Speaking of our feedback! We have finally finished compiling all of the comments we got and we are thrilled with the amount of feedback! There was several comments specifically stating that they loved the anonymous feedback, without worrying about what the other users will think of them or their opinions. Due to this we are intending on doing this more often, however it also brings us a great deal of sadness how many people stated that they were actually afraid to post their opinions where other users could see it.
That isn't right. I know that Aywas is going through quite a bit right now, but we are all a large family. Nobody should be afraid of any others, and Staff will not tolerate abuse. So I wish to remind everyone, if you are being harassed, if somebody is insulting you, or even just bothering you, whether it is on a thread, pet comments, news comments, PM's, anywhere, please contact one of our moderators. That is what they are here for. To help make you feel comfortable.
Now, I am going to go through and address several points that were brought up in the closed comments but to prevent cluttering up the news post further please come over to this thread if you are curious~

I don't know how to Tagnpeople but.. that is the price you have to pay. You have responsibilities. I do, too. But I am not gonna Complain about not getting everything I wanted. It is a matter of what is more important. A pet site? Or your work/school?
This is how I see it at least. They are trying to make it as fair as possible. But just because real life gets in the way.. doesn't mean that same person has to get mad over it. Instead use what free time you have to actually try harder, be quicker even. It isn't exactly impossible.

A possible solution I can think of for the new currency and not being able to trade it is a tradable item. Have an item that can be purchase in the event shop that opens into the same amount of currency as it was purchased for. Also if you plan on having the currency expire each year then have the item expire at the same time like the event custom makers do. This way buyers and sellers don't need to worry about who wants want.

Maybe, to address the currency exchange, you could have each currency be exchangeable for an item that could be sold to other users, and then redeemed for the same value of currency that it's buyable for. And then, when the event is over, those items can be wiped, just like Raffle Crystals

Ah, I missed the part that it'll make collecting easier. Perhaps that'll make exploring less tedious. Regardless, I'll trust that staff and admins know what aspects of the site are unfair and will trust you guys! Sorry for the initial doubt. Looking forward to trying this out then!

I'm fine with the currency change, even though I saved a fair amount of my candy canes from last year!~ Maybe there could be a raffle for new event currency or some new item with candy canes/snowflakes as raffle tickets to help get rid of some that users saved up? ^-^

We have seen amazing responses to those events and currency collections previously, which is why we're confident that this will be a positive change as we go forward. We know that changes are always difficult to transition into, but as it's a familiar system we feel people will get comfortable faster than they think ^^
Flaming Catz (#38339) - I'm afraid that would completely void the intention of clearing the currency every event, and as such will not be held under consideration, I'm sorry. As with other events that have had this type of currency, users will be able to advertise how many points they have, and how much they value those points. Then the user can request specific items that the user can afford. I can assure you this has worked without issue for years with user events and Valentines, so we have no worries about transitioning other holidays to this method.
Ellory (T4T) (#804) - No problem at all! We're happy to hear people's thoughts, because even though this is something we've contemplated and discussed at great length, this is all very new for you guys! You're going to have questions and concerns, and we're happy to try and field them.
MourningStar (#56068) - We had some issues with our shops which was why they weren't out when I planned them to be. I will be organising that tomorrow so people can see this post!

Aniloonys (#68437) Sorry but I disagree. Yeah, work is more important but then second to work is my bf and family but that's not to say I don't care about doing well on here during certain events. It's not about "try harder" especially with tedious things like adventure. Also, sometimes it's more about time than trying harder. Now, am I going to go raging mad about it? Nope. But it'll affect my feelings on the site which I think is fair.
Just because it doesn't bug you doesn't mean it's bad if others are bothered.
That said, I'm still sticking to my initial feelings on one thing- currency being transferrable. Perhaps just wiped at the end like raffle tickets so that the site doesn't need to code new items each time. :)

So... it'll be like some past events? With the Exotic Kibble (Exotic Pet Day) and Sequins (Glittering Gala) currencies? I seem to recall there was a lot of user cooperation for those shops, with those who had extra currency helping other users get the items they wanted???
Will there maybe perhaps be a "Collectable" version of the currencies in the Event shops, as a keepsake? That would be cool.
