Just in time for the holidays~
I know that everyone is looking forward to the Holiday Lane opening, don't worry it hasn't been forgotten! We have been experiencing some shop glitches(all admin side) so we're behind on a few things. The pets are going to be stocked and it will be open shortly, however I do want to forwarn everyone that we will be having a new currency! One of the major points of feedback we have received is how older users get an advantage when it comes to events. So to help with this we are going to begin having the events with a non-item currency, so this currency will not be tradeable and everyone will start fresh every year.
We will be trying to think of a trade in for all your candy canes and snowflakes that you have been sitting on for the past few years, but they will not be the main currency this year.
Speaking of our feedback! We have finally finished compiling all of the comments we got and we are thrilled with the amount of feedback! There was several comments specifically stating that they loved the anonymous feedback, without worrying about what the other users will think of them or their opinions. Due to this we are intending on doing this more often, however it also brings us a great deal of sadness how many people stated that they were actually afraid to post their opinions where other users could see it.
That isn't right. I know that Aywas is going through quite a bit right now, but we are all a large family. Nobody should be afraid of any others, and Staff will not tolerate abuse. So I wish to remind everyone, if you are being harassed, if somebody is insulting you, or even just bothering you, whether it is on a thread, pet comments, news comments, PM's, anywhere, please contact one of our moderators. That is what they are here for. To help make you feel comfortable.
Now, I am going to go through and address several points that were brought up in the closed comments but to prevent cluttering up the news post further please come over to this thread if you are curious~

Ah just bothered to read the responses. I still...don't know how I feel, but I do take comfort knowing items are still sellable as always. I hope I'll find a chance to adventure!

Aniloonys (#68437) its not that they are "useless but can be traded in" it's more along the lines of people who have to work or have school and can't play here as much will be sol because they can't just trade / buy the currency... there won't be extra floating around, or able to be saved up. It's that it makes the gap between people who have obligations in RL to people who can sit on the site all day bigger...

Ellory (T4T) (#804) - By having a new, resettable currency we can make prices fair to all users, rather than accidentally skew them to higher ranges because the amount is inflated by people who have stored large amounts. It will, in fact, be fairer for new users whereas the system highly benefitted older players previously. It also means that currency will be much more easily collected as it will not rely on two RNGs to possibly get the items. You'll pick it up the same way you collect BP, allowing a faster, easier point collecting experience for those with less time.

I definitely agree with the choice to make currency new each event, but I would really like to see a currency transfer option. Selling items once the shop is open is alright, but I think especially for newer users just being able to sell the currency is a huge boon. It's always been one of the best ways for newer users to really get a foot in the door on the site. I am definitely sad to see it wouldn't be transferable, and would hope staff might reconsider that one point.

I don't know if we're allowed to post in the topic you linked so I'll just say it in here.
I think that regarding the last point, 'make teams random', a good compromise would be to have the option to allow the player to click a button or a link or whatever, and that would place their account on a randomly chosen team.
I have no idea if I'm making any sense, unfortunately. I'm rather out of it right now due to pain meds, so I apologize. Also I don't know if html works in here, but I'm using it to create line breaks just in case, so here's hoping!

The way it read to me at first, hence the addition oops.
My luck has been everyone buys currency for more than what the items do in the end. And faster. Not fully sure why the price but some of it might be hype. That's definitely the ease.
Also if I go over and mess up it's not there next year. I get it, I respect it, I don't like it.

Loveless (#19023) I know... but I prefer determining what I want myself. I like having control of those things. I don't like that method. I know. I am complainey. It's been a very bad month for me and it just keeps getting worse ;; I'll just go away :(
