EU/UK Purchases

Site Update

I was going to bundle this with the other news updates, but those will be going out tomorrow. If you are an EU/UK citizen and buy GP or USD items, please be sure to read this news post very carefully as this will affect you from this point forward.

Due to new EU laws that came into effect January 1st, we can no longer accept "instant" purchases from our EU or UK customers. It would require us to have a EU server to store your private data as well as remit tax to the individual country that the customer comes from. This is too much of an administrative burden on Aywas, and as a result we cannot accept those types of purchases from EU/UK folks anymore.

While we understand it is an annoying process, we will only be able to accept orders from UK/EU customers as detailed in this Knowledge Base article. It is a "manual" method that meets the qualifications of having human interaction involved in the purchase under the new EU law.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but unfortunately this is the new state of the law and there is nothing we can do about it. The only alternative was blocking EU/UK customers entirely from purchasing from Aywas, and we would rather have a manual method available, even if slow, than do that :(

Ivory Ebena (#43812) Switzerland isn't part of the european union as far as I know. So it won't affect you.

Oh no, this sounds awful. :(

I wonder how long it will take for our requests to be processed? And also how it will affect bonuses, especially for events like the last two teo ones - I was buying at the last minute, once I could see if the ones I wanted were still there. If Aywas staff have to process it, will time zones cause delays?

Time zones are likely going to cause delays - I'd highly suggest buying in advance (like a day in advance) if there's something you want on a time deadline, like teo eggs.

Ah well, we'll just have to wait and see how it affects things and how we adapt to deal with it.

I hope you don't lose money because of it.

Ivory Ebena (#43812) - Switzerland, Norway, Iceland etc are not members of the EU so should be fine. Lucky... ;3;

Honestly? This is great. It stops almost all impulse spending, which is most people's greatest weakness. ;) On the downside, if you really want something and are afraid of it selling out, you're going to have to negotiate with the seller - but Aywas has a fantastic, trustworthy community, so that shouldn't be TOO hard. In other words, it's inconvenient, but I'm sure we'll get used to it in time.

Actually... I can see people selling their instant-buy ability to people without it. That may or may not be a great thing to have going, lol.

Ooh okay, as long as I'm not breaking any Aywas rules by doing that :D Ty for getting back to me ^^

The KB article only mentions PayPal, could we do the same using the amazon payment method?
