EU/UK Purchases

Site Update

I was going to bundle this with the other news updates, but those will be going out tomorrow. If you are an EU/UK citizen and buy GP or USD items, please be sure to read this news post very carefully as this will affect you from this point forward.

Due to new EU laws that came into effect January 1st, we can no longer accept "instant" purchases from our EU or UK customers. It would require us to have a EU server to store your private data as well as remit tax to the individual country that the customer comes from. This is too much of an administrative burden on Aywas, and as a result we cannot accept those types of purchases from EU/UK folks anymore.

While we understand it is an annoying process, we will only be able to accept orders from UK/EU customers as detailed in this Knowledge Base article. It is a "manual" method that meets the qualifications of having human interaction involved in the purchase under the new EU law.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but unfortunately this is the new state of the law and there is nothing we can do about it. The only alternative was blocking EU/UK customers entirely from purchasing from Aywas, and we would rather have a manual method available, even if slow, than do that :(

Urgh, how annoying. Is this going to affect bonuses in any way? Cus they can change very rapidly. Also, tipping breeding artists? You only get the link to do that once. Going to have to research the full law at work though, I buy from abroad a lot

What about UK/EU customers that use Amazon.com gift card balance, can we still do that?

the only thing i can see that could go poorly with this is for stuff like the teos, where you have to purchase x amount of site things to get x amount of bonus in a specified time period to get a limited item that US buyers are going to be getting infinitely faster, especially given that it takes a person sending the invoice and then sending the items. what a lengthy process... hope this works put in the end!

I would honestly have to suggest that UK/EU buyers get their purchases and bonuses ready in advance of Teo releases, so they are ready with the bonus for when the eggs come. TBH, to be fair I would forward the EU/UK customer any auto-bonuses they might have missed from having to do an early payment (as some auto-bonuses happen with a Teo release), because it's really not their fault for this law and having to deal with this manual crap.

We can only take PayPal from EU/UK customers now because of this law, because that's the only place I can request an invoice manually. I can't do that on Amazon ;~;

I don't mind this new process at all, unless there will be a GP bonus thing like with the teos. I don't want to be at a disadvantage just because I'm not an US citizen.

It's not just US citizens who get this instant payment though... anywhere that isn't the UK or Europe doesn't have to deal with this law. Australia is ok, Canada, Mexico, Russia, China, etc

This is one more reason for planning to leave ... Swiss is outside that madness right?

J.A.K. (#15) Well I think in a few months we'll get used to it and I'm sure you staff members will think of a solution that will make it easier for us. I'm not worried. :)
