Pick apart other artist's PSDs and see how they design things. It's how I learnt how to colour. Also, make sure you find your own style. Find your strength and you can do it. - L

When in doubt, sparkles or blood will usually make a design look much better.

Make sure your color choices make sense and look good together - wrong color choices can make a pet look odd, so experiment with different shades of the colors you want to use.

Always try to color separate areas on individual layers, color lineart and shading to match your base color, use colors people might like, add markings when possible, even if they are simple ones and hope for the best that someone buys it. :P

I really love leaving shiny glowing marks~ <3 For me personally, that makes a design better. That's mainly stylistic though. xD

@9 Bexxxx I had 2 pink turtle designs which no one will buy but other colors got sold fast. I thought pink was most popular at first too. XD

Practice, practice, practice! :D That and ask more experienced artists and others in general what they think of it. Advice is wonderful, and constructive criticism is unparalleled in usefulness when working on any design, not just on Aywas. Lots of times, another person can see things that you can't in your artwork, be they things you are great at, or things that need to be worked on.
