Snake Solis

Pets

It's the 5th anniversary of Steve Irwin's death. It's strange how it's already been five years since he died... I still watch his show on Animal Planet, and he had always shown reptiles in a positive light, something we still need more of in the media.

In his memory I released some more snake-related Solis into Explore:

Did Steve Irwin inspire you?

When I was younger I loved watching his show after school all the time. I remember hearing about his death when I was going to bed. It was horrible. He was a great person.

He was my childhood hero. I loved his shows, I even got that movie he made once. He taught me to love and respect all kinds of animals. Man, I cried for weeks when he died. Such a great man.

Steve Irwin was my hero when I was young. Thanks to him I was always outside when I little catching snakes and frogs and stuff and knew how to handle them carefully and gently. It's still sad to me that he's gone :(

I was so devastated when he died, it sort of shocked me just how upset I was and how much it still aches. He was a good guy and I think this is a sweet tribute to him! <3

You know, I've never heard of a site that remembered him like this and commemorated him. It's just amazing. <3 (He was a hero of mine too. ^_^)

He was the first and so far last celebrity I actually mourned. His death affected me so much more than I ever would have thought possible. He was an inspiration, and he did unbelievably wonderful things to open people's eyes. I still can't believe he's gone.

I met Steve Irwin when I was eleven. He was an amazing person. He got me past my fear of snakes and was just an amazing person. He is still missed- he was an awesome ambassador for Australia as well as for the environment.

I can't believe it's been so long. It feels like I heard about his death only yesterday. I couldn't believe it, Steve Irwin always seemed so happy and excited... certainly not the kind of person I could ever imagine dying before getting very, very old. Every time I think of his death, I think of his family, and how every day they live with the loss of a wonderful father/husband. My heart goes out to them.

He really did. Not only did he bring awareness of the beautiful reptiles of the world, he also loyally loved his family and bought a lot of joy and good into the world. <3
