Snake Solis

Pets

It's the 5th anniversary of Steve Irwin's death. It's strange how it's already been five years since he died... I still watch his show on Animal Planet, and he had always shown reptiles in a positive light, something we still need more of in the media.

In his memory I released some more snake-related Solis into Explore:

Did Steve Irwin inspire you?

Steve is the reason I love Snakes the way I do! I have always thanked him for showing people That there not as bad as believed!

I had a dream to one day thank him in person not only that, for his love of animals to.
He even saved a common frog just because he believed it didn't need to die.

One of his shows came on the telly, and I reached over to my nephew, who's eleven, but never experienced anything Crocodile Hunter-related. I took his head in my hands, pointed it towards the screen, and told him solemnly, "That, James, is the bravest, most absurd Australian crocodile enthusiast there ever was. I grew up with him showing me how to wrestle crocodiles." He looked at the tv solemnly, as Steve picked up one of the biggest lizards in the world. "Did he die?" James asked me. I nodded. "He must've been really awesome." It's hard to believe it's been five years. When i heard the news, I didn't believe it. But he will always be remembered fondly. :)

Steve Irwin was one of my childhood heros. My friends and I would always go looking for snakes and lizards when we were children and he was who we wanted to be like when we grew up.

I miss Steve Irwin. He was like, my idol. :( It's still strange to think he's dead. When I was little, I thought he'd live forever.

Its really been five years? Wow. I remember the day still pretty clearly. It was... a sad day for all when he died I think. ><; The world really did loose an inspiration.

I love Steve Irwin, he was a true inspiration, and his children teach and inspire with the same gusto he had.
True inspiration never dies, he will forever be a name in conservation!

I met him too Scor but I haven't gone back since he died because it would be completely different... His shows were amazing and he was a really nice bloke.
