Snake Solis

Pets

It's the 5th anniversary of Steve Irwin's death. It's strange how it's already been five years since he died... I still watch his show on Animal Planet, and he had always shown reptiles in a positive light, something we still need more of in the media.

In his memory I released some more snake-related Solis into Explore:

Did Steve Irwin inspire you?

Wow 5 years already. His show was amazing and he did a lot to raise awareness and put a new light on dangerous, yet beautiful animals. I always liked that he taught a respect for the animals and you could see how much he loved them and loved what he did in every show. Wish his family nothing but the best. -Garai

I absolutely loved him as a kid. I cried for days when I found out he had died. Rip, Steve you were definitely my hero!

Yes he did. Not to sound cliche, but my ultimate dream as a child was to go visit his zoo and meet him :) I can't believe he died so soon :

reading this bring tears in my eyes... I can't say how much this guy inspired me when I was a kid and, even when I grew, I keep watching him. I've decided to study veterinary and, some day, I can take care of big animals in zoo's or environmental reserves.

And to the hell that people who doesn't even watched the program and said stupid thing about him! It was not about doing silly things, capturing crocodiles or whatever... it was about being one with nature, to know that what mother nature gives you, she can take back.. it was about respect and knowing the world you live in.

It... has? This week is just been crap for me. I still remember the day he died. I didn't believe it. I kind of still don't. He was, and still is, one of my heroes.

Oh wow...five years already. At first I made fun of the guy but after a while it was like...WOW this guy is amazing. He is still a personal hero even though he is gone. He taught me a lot about snakes and other reptiles. I really miss him.
