Snake Solis

Pets

It's the 5th anniversary of Steve Irwin's death. It's strange how it's already been five years since he died... I still watch his show on Animal Planet, and he had always shown reptiles in a positive light, something we still need more of in the media.

In his memory I released some more snake-related Solis into Explore:

Did Steve Irwin inspire you?

has it really been that long? T.T I loved Steve Irwin, I thought the way he died was just so tragic and I feel so badly for his wife and daughter :( I found his show to be, IMO, the best one out there as far as those types of shows go. He really knew what he was doing and didn't just put on a show for the camera.

Btw - luv the first soli there.

I was 9 when he died, and I was heading to Australia Zoo the next week. I live on the other side of the country and he was my hero, I still have my little Steve Irwin action figure sitting on my bedside table holding hands with Terry, five years on. I cried for days and days. Thankyou Aywas for giving this to me, and may Steve rest in peace.

His wife actually worked at a cougar sanctuary located less then a mile from where I used to board my horse (she lived in my home town but was actually from a town about an hour south of where I live). I took a field trip there in middle school and actually met her, not that I knew who she was back then but I have a picture of myself and some friends with her and a baby cougar ^.^

As for her husband, I watched his show everyday and absolutely adored him. He was a HUGE voice for the animal kingdom and it's very unfortunate that he passed away at such a young age. He will be missed but never forgotten =)

I was always too young to be interested in watching stuff like that, but apparently he was a brilliant man who inspired millions of people.

RIP Stevie

Steve Irwin was my childhood hero xD I remember where I was when I found out he had died- on my way to hockey practice at highschool after school. At first I didn't believe it. Once it sank in I actually cried >_> I live near Australia zoo but have never been :
