Poppies!
With the Advent Calendar taken over by some rather shady and mysterious folk, what's a poor lonesome, HA item to do? Hide out in an unlikely place of course! Cosmos (#25837) is kindly bringing us a little cheer amidst this month's spooky tidings, with a necklace lovingly crafted from her favourite flowers. Please wish her a happy belated birthday, and say thank you. c:
You can pick up your very own copy of this unisex HA item for a handful of Trash Points. Best be quick about it, for I'm sure Minerva or her minions will be along soon to put a stop to such a sweet offering. (The Poppy Necklace will be available for the remainder of today and all of tomorrow, and will then leave the shop.)

Awakening October!
Site Update

Have you given your advent souvenir a close inspection?
The glow in its eyes seems to be... pulsing.

"And what, pray tell, do you think you'll find?" a cold, smooth voice suddenly echoed out from each Dark Magic Griffin statue in unison, sending simultaneous trembles throughout Ay.
Some statues began to shake violently, others shattered or split in two. A dark essence seeped out from their insides and floated into the air, first forming an aimless, sparse black phantom, which soon began to take a definable shape.

"Oh, did my little trick frighten you?" She paused, quite pleased. "My apologies, I'm taking some of your credit. Each one of you that collected a Griffin statue today have helped summon my power, and it will only continue to grow as more collect my charms. So, thank you," she ended with a taunting snicker.

"Do you like flowers? I think I've seen some of you peering into my windows."
Her accusatory glare quickly dissipated as she clarified, "The windows of my garden, I mean. I suppose I should properly introduce myself. I'm Minerva, and I am the caretaker of the Witch's Garden."

If you dare tread onto the garden grounds, every 15 minutes you will be able to harvest a plant (as long as the witch doesn't spot you!).
You will receive one of ten possible plants of varying rarities, all depicted above.
These herbs might come in handy soon, so I'd stock up!

Not too far off from the garden lies the famous Pumpkin Patch!
Want to start trick-or-treating early? You can fill your favorite pumpkins up with items, BP/GP, pets, a silly Halloween or other holiday/seasonal message, or anything else (appropriate) that you like!
The instructions are simple: deposit a pumpkin in order to collect a pumpkin; you can collect one every ten minutes. (Note that all pumpkins must contain a minimum of 1,000 BP.)
If you were impressed by Minerva's parlor tricks and are tempted to be an evil trickster yourself, I want to remind you that while the pumpkins are anonymous, we are able to track every single action in the patch. Keep it fun and PG-13, friends.
Speaking of Minerva... did anyone else just notice a bunch of Dark Magic Griffins crowding around?

"They don't bite--unless I tell them to. I won't tell you not to worry, because I make no assurances about what I'll say when I get in one of my moods. However, I will tell you that my Griffin friends are here to escort you to the Spooky Forest. A tip for our newer folk--you might want to stay along the path in your adventures." And with a wink, she vanished just as quickly and inexplicably as she had arrived.

The Spooky Forest is open from now until the end of October and is filled with new pets and collectables, but our old familiar pumpkins!

They're baaaaaaack!
If you're newer to the Aywas Halloween scene or this is your first big event, listen up!
The above items (Melo Pumpkin and Halloween Pumpkin) will be used as exchange currency in our Seasonal Shop that will open at the end of the month. Both pumpkins can be found in the Spooky Forest, but it won't be scarily easy!
We typically price some items in Melo Pumpkins, but most are in Halloween Pumpkins, though we offer an exchange option so that you can trade in your MPs (example: 5 Melo Pumpkins = 1 Halloween Pumpkin). The official trade-in rate has not yet been decided.
But there's a lot more in the Spooky Forest than just silly pumpkins!

You will encounter 10 collectables that can be turned in at the Museum in the Spooky Collection. What's your incentive for parting with these haunting trinkets? This pretty cauldron:

The Ornate Cauldron is something you want to hang onto.
Not only is this item necessary to participate in the Giant Cauldron during our end of the month finale, but for those of you that don't end up using it to snag a random custom, it will turn into a goodie bag! Pretty neat, eh? We like magical things. ;)
Even after you obtain your cauldron, I would suggest holding onto the extra Spooky Forest collectables your pets dutifully gather for you. Like the plants from the witch's garden, these items will be coming in handy!

And what would a Spooky Forest be without pets popping up around every corner!
We will be adding a pumpkin LATTE more pets to this region and other features that haven't opened yet (like Frankenstein's Lab).
FYI: I'm not done accepting pets from the Halloween submission thread either, so stay tuned on news for that. I will make an announcement as soon as I'm done so you know which pets will be used, when to expect your payment, etc. :3

For all your seasonal October needs, you can use this central Halloween 2013 link! It has quick access to the Spooky Forest, Pumpkin Patch, Garden and more! We'll be adding this to the navigation for your quick reference.

Here's to a happy October!
Hang on, and enjoy the ride!

Welcome to October!
Site Update

Welcome to October--the greatest month on Aywas!
October on Aywas offers a very special experience because it begins with our birthday and ends with holidays, coinciding with celebrations of life all month long.
Let's kick off the month in proper Aywas fashion with a parade of new monthly pets and goodies!
From an otherworldly beast to a bouncy Bumble ready for chilly weather, there are 9 October-y pets in the GP Shop waiting to come home with you!

But wait! Make sure you have enough pet slots activated for our 9 BP Shop pets. From a bug that's literally jumping off of the screen to some special hybrids being offered, we think you'll want to make extra room!

If you colored one of these remarkable pets, please contact Visark (#185) for your payment!
Make sure to send the PSDs for these pets in to [email protected] right away! Or I will bury them. |:

Feeling lucky? Itching to dabble in transformation? Looking for a new bottle to line your gallery shelves with? You can now pick up the Essence of October 2013 from the GP Shop.
This magic potion will turn your active pet into one of the October 2013 monthlies above!

The premium monthly item is a Mystery Bag.
I'd be careful digging around inside if I were you--it looks like there's two breakable potions in here!
In addition to having the Essence of October tucked inside to help you out with your pet collections for the month, it also includes a Skyglow Potion.

The Skyglow Potion (pictured above) contains that gorgeous Blue Crystal Lunaris (in honor of Aywas' birthday and one of our signature items!).
You will also receive 100,000 BP this month instead of the usual 50,000.

The Marigold Lunaris has appeared in the October skies for those with birthdays this month!
Don't forget to check in with Aywas on your special day and collect your birthday gift!

The new monthly contests have been announced!

One of our new NPCs will properly invoking our opening Halloween features later today, but we have some treats to help get you prepared and in the spirit of the month!
We have often been asked to release seasonal clothing early on so that your HAs--and you--can be festive all month long. And, well, we answered that request with a closet full of new threads. *wink*

The GP Shop is now stocked with two beautifully detailed Day of the Dead sets!

If you like the stitched look, we have two Franken sets in the BP Shop!

For a lighter, trendy ensemble, the Premium Outlet is stocking a Pastel Goth set!

If you're preparing for the zombie apocalypse, swing by the Trash for Treasure shop for our Zombie Hunter set!
All sets have trunks available that contain corresponding items, but you can purchase individual pieces as well. Like always, each piece is male and female compatible.
These clothing sets will be available for the entire month of October.
Feel free to try on the new clothing here!
(Stay tuned for release details on the Oni, Crow, and Marionette sets.)
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some spooky pets to tame, a pumpkin patch to trawl through, and some birthday food to prepare!

Luxury Collar Donations
Site Update

I am very excited to announce that we raised ~$1345 for shelters/rescues!
Thank you so much for your support! I enjoyed reading all of the stories you shared about why you chose a particular organization and how they're helping animals in your community. Unsurprisingly, many of you have rescued pets yourself and/or volunteer with animal organizations.
We are on a pet site after all, so it's expected that a lot of our company loves animals, but your outpouring is a testament to what a great community we have and how strong our animal adoration is.
Thank you again for participating in Dog Week from myself and Ryou!

Archives, Ashen and Custom Queue
Site Update
We're saying goodbye to these guys today!
Flaming Metal Custom Orb
Put down those pitchforks, I'm not taking away your custom making items, they're all transmuting into this snazzy new thing:
Ashen Custom Orb
Which should be a bit less of a mouthful, and give us nicely matching sets of custom creators for all the Uncommons. :3
PSD, PSD, where's that PSD?
If you're looking for one of these, perhaps an archive might be of assistance. n_n
Collab Crazy - For Collab Crayons
Scav Markers- For Scav Markers 2013
Scav Silvers 2013- for Metal, Blue and Gold Scav Paint 2013
These links have taken up residence in the Alt and Event PSD's thread, so should be fairly easy to get to in the future.
TWEEEET!
As a parting reminder, some notes about customs.
Anything kicked today from the custom queue has been logged - simply fix the issue and resubmit your doggy, it'll pass as a prior submission, regardless of deadline. The Mongrel Founders for Dog Week are 8% different. That means you have only 22% edits left to work with.
About 3rd party brushes - the brushes that come with your software are fine to use, but 99% of the downloadable brush sets (nozzles, stamps, premade brushes, etc.) out there do not meet the criteria to be used on Aywas - which means if we find out your pet has been made with them later on, it gets deleted without refund*. Please, please please avoid using other people's brushes unless they are free for commercial use, and absolutely no attribution is required of any kind. It's not worth the risk otherwise. ;__;
Now I must flee back to the custom queue, there's a veritable horde of doggies to process!
*In the event a design was purchased from another player, it's the artist who would be punished for breaking the rules, not the buyer. The pet would have to be redone to remove the infringing material, but would not be deleted.

Natural Aywa Enhancement
Site Update

... a Natural Aywa Enhancement in the BP Shop!
Have you ever found yourself with a gorgeous custom on a 400 x 400 canvas, only to shrink it down to 200 x 200 to upload, and lose some intricate detailing you (or the artist you commissioned) slaved over? That's where this item will come in handy!
This special magnifying glass will allow you to upload a 400x400 sized pet, and while it is especially geared toward Silver customs or special event lineart that has larger PSDs available, you can use it on any custom pet. Here's a few things to keep in mind:
- The 400 x 400 image will only be visible on the pet's page, not on the forums or in your lair.
- Can only be used on existing custom pets; this is an overlay-only item.
- There must be no changes between the two images other than size.
- This item only works if you have a 400x400 image of your pet. It does not create higher resolution images on its own.
To use, have this item in your inventory, view your pet's page and hit the "Upload Full Image" button.
Here's an example of our pet, Talisman.
Original:

The Natural Aywa Enhancement then works its magic.

Voila!

There's also a special queue for these large pets.
If you later decide that you're tired of the large image, there will be a delete button (with a confirmation screen) that you can use to remove the full image at no cost. Your pet will then return to its original size. :3
(Also, remember that per the ToS, you are not permitted to manipulate official pet details (pet image, pet stats, pet breedability, etc.) in pet profiles through CSS or any other means.
Enjoy!
