Giant Cauldron Creaking

Have you heard any noises coming from the Giant Cauldron room lately?

Something tells me it's about to awaken...

(Personal spooky custom owned by myself and Dew!)

Bubbling over with magic, the Giant Cauldron has the power to produce unique custom pets, and one of them could be yours if you're a skillful brewer!

Here's how things work!
(If you're a cauldron veteran, this will sound very familiar, but if you're a newer player, you'll want to read up since this feature is unique to October. :3)

- a random custom's image will appear on the Cauldron page and remain there for ~30 minutes.

- during that time, there will be a line of text that gives you a hint for what the upcoming recipe will be that's needed to create the custom. The recipe will use plants from the Witch's Garden. It will look something like this:

It is currently unknown how to make this pet, but it requires 4 different plants.
(Note: The Ornate Cauldron will count as one of the ingredients/"plants." This item is required for every cauldron recipe.)

- when ~30 minutes has elapsed, refresh and the required ingredients will be displayed, like this:

To create this pet, you need this recipe:

- similar to Frankenstein's Lab, you can hover over the item images to see how many of each are required. However, since the cauldron deals in custom pets and not site colors, this is a first-come, first-serve feature; if you are the first person to successfully turn in all of the required ingredients, you will receive the custom as a new pet in your lair.

- once a custom is claimed, either a new one will show up and the 30 minute timer will begin again, or the cauldron will take a little break.

Things to keep in mind!
- You can only create ONE custom from the cauldron, so choose wisely.

- If you see a message that says the cauldron has gone quiet, that means it's taking a break. We'll do our best to fill the cauldron with customs at various hours to hit all timezones.

- There will be 50 pets total put into the cauldron between October 27th - October 31st, working out to roughly 10 per day. Pets will be put in at random times, and not necessarily all one after the other.

- We'll run the Cauldron until we exhaust our stash, and I will make an announcement when it is officially empty.

- The Ornate Cauldron will be turned into an openable goodie bag after Halloween! So even if you don't manage to snag a custom with the help of one, you'll still get some treats!

Remember, you can only claim ONE custom, so choose wisely.
Every recipe will require one Ornate Cauldron and a random number of different plants from the garden.

The Giant Cauldron is a fun custom giveaway tradition that we'd like to keep going every year, so please be sportsmanlike about it. It's a bonus for our October festivities finale, not the focus; keep that in mind. :3

Rowan's Knowledge Base & Potion Brewing!

"Why hello there, friend!"

"Oh gosh I'm sorry, where did my manners scamper off to? I'm Rowan, and I am so delighted to meet you!" Her cheerfulness seemed to be bubbling over as she bobbed excitedly in the air, broomstick dutifully in tow.

"I'm new in this area, though I'm picking up things pretty quickly! I'd absolutely love to sit down and chat with you about your adventures, but I have two pretty important announcements to make, so I'll drop by later to catch up with you, promise!" Nodding quickly, she then fell silent, focusing on what must've been some sort of spell. Just then, a small cloud of purple smoke exploded in her hands and began to part, revealing an aged brown book.

It floated above her fingertips, then magically flipped open, its pages fluttering though there was no breeze.

"I made this for you guys! I hope you like it, I've been working really hard on putting it together. It still needs some work, but the great thing about magic is that more pages will appear any time we need them, and we can rewrite anything without needing an eraser! I'm particularly proud of that last part."

Introducing the Knowledge Base!
Aywas is a complex game with a lot of unique features and policies that you don't find on other sites, so it can be a difficult adjustment for new uses, and all of the information is hard for even veteran users to keep up with at times. The Knowledge Base helps us out by functioning as a centralized location for information, guides, FAQs, etc. If this doesn't excite you enough, here's some additional perks:

- the KB can be edited by any staff member, ensuring efficient progress, accuracy, and consistent maintenance.

- the date that the article was last edited on is displayed at the top, so you can see how up-to-date something is at quick glance.

- articles have tags, so they can be grouped by category and therefore easier to find.

- there's a built-in search specific to the knowledge base, so you can look for a key term or phrase and pull up related articles that can hopefully answer your question!

The Knowledge Base is a work in progress, but staff has truly dedicated a ton of time to putting it together and will be working our tails off to make it as comprehensive as possible. We have some articles that are incomplete, some that still need to be added, and quite a bit of polishing to do, but there is a LOT of information currently in the KB that answers plenty of everyday questions, so we wanted to make it available to you now. :3

We have also created a Knowledge Base Think Tank thread for all your KB-related feedback!
This is your resource, so tell us what you want to see in it!

If you would like to author an article for the Knowledge Base, you can do that as well.
We are currently taking Knowledge Base Submissions. Read more here about how we add articles and what's in it for you!

"I have one more thing to show you for the evening! I've been experimenting with some new potions all month, and I think they're finally ready for you to try out. Please let me know what you think! (They're a set of herbal specials, and use all local ingredients.)"

Our new seasonal crafting feature, Rowan's Potion Brewing, is now open!

Here's a quick guide to what each new potion does:

Awakening Essence: Heals 25% of HP.

Crimson Cordial: Will change your active pet into one of 4 exclusive colorations.

Witch's Tea: Works like the Hash Brownie, only your energy is unlimited for 5 minutes.

Banish Brew: Repels monsters for 100 steps in Adventure.

Potion of Transportation: Small chance of yielding a Scroll of Transportation!

Fertility Brew: Small chance of yielding a Fertility Potion!

Transformation Potion: Will change your active pet into any site coloration of your choice.

Recolor Potion: An enchanted, potent tea that will allow you to completely recolor a Gen 1 custom you own. You cannot change, add, or remove lines or anything that would otherwise alter the edit %; the item is for coloring changes only. Overlay only. Cannot be used on site pets or offspring. *Before using this item, please be mindful of any rules that may apply to your custom (such as from the artist, previous owner, etc.*

The potion brewing feature uses herbs gathered from the Witch's Garden, so make sure you're collecting those plants!

(The herbs will also be used in the Giant Cauldron feature, opening next weekend.)
