January is a tough time for shelters. Puppies and kittens are a popular gift for Christmas, but by the time January and February roll around, local shelters are hit by a wave of unwanted Christmas presents. When the novelty of the gift wears off, puppies and kittens are unloaded on shelters in droves, often overwhelming them.
I got my cat from a shelter, and I've been planning on making a large donation to the shelter I got her from. Here she is, by the way.
If you'd like to join with me and contribute to the shelter, I am selling metal customs of the above Oske lineart for $10.00. Half will go to the shelter I'm donating to. With your purchase you'll be sent this item, which you can use to upload your kitty in a box:
Shelter Hearts
If you have a shelter in your town, consider stopping by and giving them a donation - money, pet food, anything you can afford. Right now, they really need it.
Please don't donate to the huge national organizations like Humane Society (do some research on them). They don't help your local shelter.
Thanks.

Do you know when the item should arrive in our inventory if we've already donated?

She's soooo cute. I am afraid that I can't donate :( My kitty is not from shelter, though, I am planning to adopt another one from shelter.

TBH I'd pay $10 just for the item :3. The fact that half is going to a good cause is just an added bonus.

We get in lots of kittens and cats at the no-kill shelter I volunteer at, every single week. Not only that daily we get 10-50 calls about people wanting to surrender cats to the shelter (we are a limited number facility due to size constraints and fire marshall laws).
It amazes me just how many people think that these living breathing beautiful creatures can be treated as "throw away" pets.
I love what you are doing and wish I could donate more.

Thought it might be worth noting that you can go and give money DIRECTLY to your LOCAL Humane Society, and that will get used by the shelter. It's a good way to donate to your Humane Society without having to donate to the national organization, and your local organization gets 100% of the money, instead of having to pay someone to handle it (or similar). That's what we do when we donate money! We take it (and photos of our two shelter mutts) to the shelter, so they get money and an update on two of their success stories. They're always really grateful.

Thank you for the warning about national societies. But people should also make sure their local shelter has good practices so things like this don't happen: https://bit.ly/vTlysM

A wonderful suggestion to donate locally. I am fortunate enough to be able to sign up for payroll deductions so my donation comes out automatically. One of the local organizations registered to receive donations is a local, no-kill cat shelter. I'm always thrilled to see them on the eligible list each year so I can direct my donations to them.
Thanks for supporting such a good cause. :)

My fiance and I are getting our own place within the next 2-3 weeks, and I'm planning on adopting two cats since the apartments are pet-friendly =3

In all my time here I have never seen any of the staff take any extra money and not put it to good use, so I feel perfectly fine with donating my 10$ I did and for half of it to be sent. I trust this site and staff no to screw us over. They never have before <3 Thank you Slash for doing this <3
