Policy Change Poll

Pets

Currently, the on-site policy regarding mistakes is that:

If the administration or programmers cannot reproduce a "glitch" that irreversibly changed your pet, you will not get it back, unless it's a custom.

Currently, people who buy GP are arguing that if they paid GP to buy their pet, like a Monthly or a Special Edition, and make a mistake with a potion (for example), they should get the pet back because it was bought with real money.

This would work like this: if you have donated and bought the pet through the GP store, you have the right to have your pet changed back if something happens to it by user mistake (NOT glitch, glitches are always refunded). If you didn't, you don't.

So, the user who gains a Monthly Pet/Super Rare/Limited through Rogue, Hippie Mushroom, Glittering Rock, Eggs, the Wild, etc and accidentally change it are SOL because it wasn't bought through the GP Shop.

My stance against this is, in essence, I don't want to discriminate between the user who earns their rare pet through site means to the user who buys their pet in the GP shop. So they both get the same response: "Sorry, user error, not a glitch."

But I'm willing to change the policy to make special conditions for users whose pets they accidentally messed up, if they bought them through the GP Shop--if that's what the majority thinks is fair and right.

Policy Change?
Yes, if the pet is bought through the GP shop, user mistakes that change that pet should be refunded
No, all treatment should be equal (and for god's sake, put up a confirmation page!)
I am ambivalent to this policy.

Ah, and to post again, I think a confirm page would be helpful anyway, to prevent accidents. I normally have multiple tabs open, and am constantly switching between pets for exploring, cooking, and whoever I want to show off. Now, say I go back to a tab that is lying about my active pet, and it's open to my inventory. Now, I always double check before I do anything, but still. That could save a pet. Rogue should have a confirm page too, to save you some grief later. (If he doesn't now.)

I heart confirmation pages, whichever way this decision goes.

Hirro and I are also conversing about this away from here, but Hiiro brought up a good point. Some sites will not allow the user to explore the site until the Tutorial/Rules have been read. Is there any way you could lock the site until a new user has read the Tutorial page? Have some sort of walkthrough for the first few actions (Showing the user where to go via arrows and such to make an active pet and how to go to the dailies, etc.)? I'm not sure if that would work completely, though. I know some people just sort of scroll down to the bottom and click the "I have read" option to get past it. Still, if you did that, it would not simply be "Well, I guess this is what happens" or something. If someone did not know after they had read the tutorial, it would no longer be an "Oh, it was supposed to be obvious" it would be "Well, it was there and you HAD to read it to play". I'm sure that would save you a lot of grief, too, Slash.

Confirmation pages please!

and not just some annoying pop up! Please add something more visual like a picture of your current pet saying "Do you wish to use this item on this pet?" instead of nameless #434972

Trades are also a bit hazy because you are trading pet #34992 to player 234.

WTF is that? What does it mean to me if I don't click on it fast enough to figure out/double check what it is to make sure I have this set up right first? I'm constantly having to cover my tracks because there is quite a lot of mistakes I've made because there's a lot of inconsistencies on the site.

Codexes do not work on your active pet. Potions do. Rocks have no confirmation page and a list of aywas is not always intuitive.

Confirmation Page and Tutorial information would be great!!

I got a glittering rock and did not even know what I had.

I lucked out and changed a pet that was not important but I can see where this could cause problems!

Lol I like the glittering rock to everyone idea. ;D
But I'm greedy.

I found that it changing your active pet was obvious. Sucks for the people who messed up, but they can get over it.

I'm thinking that the general agreement is that images on confirmation pages would be very helpful. As to the trades, if you changed it to say "Nameless (#) the Red Panda" or something to that effect, that would work a bit better. Locking the site until the tutorial has been read would make it harder for players to blame their mistakes on not knowing. -had other ideas, but has temporarily gone braindead from thinking about this for so long-

So we have 3 people FOR the 'everyone gets glittering rocks' idea. And... Well, a lot against it... *sweat* Realisticly, confirmation pages sound like the best idea. Or maybe the 'save pet at certain stage' idea for all GP-bought pets, so if someone messes up they can restore the saved settings.

If I recall in the Pokemon you could make you pokemon hold a certain stone which prohibited it from evolving. It could still level, attack, etc...it'd just never evolve. Maybe the same kinda item could be offerd here?

And I have to agree with you can just ask for help. I post questions all the time in the help forum and people reply in less than 5 min. Today, I had a question about wether you can have two mutation types. I found out you couldn't and decided not to give my pets another mutation which would overide the current.

Emphasis on the confirmation page. xD
