Policy Change Poll

Pets

Currently, the on-site policy regarding mistakes is that:

If the administration or programmers cannot reproduce a "glitch" that irreversibly changed your pet, you will not get it back, unless it's a custom.

Currently, people who buy GP are arguing that if they paid GP to buy their pet, like a Monthly or a Special Edition, and make a mistake with a potion (for example), they should get the pet back because it was bought with real money.

This would work like this: if you have donated and bought the pet through the GP store, you have the right to have your pet changed back if something happens to it by user mistake (NOT glitch, glitches are always refunded). If you didn't, you don't.

So, the user who gains a Monthly Pet/Super Rare/Limited through Rogue, Hippie Mushroom, Glittering Rock, Eggs, the Wild, etc and accidentally change it are SOL because it wasn't bought through the GP Shop.

My stance against this is, in essence, I don't want to discriminate between the user who earns their rare pet through site means to the user who buys their pet in the GP shop. So they both get the same response: "Sorry, user error, not a glitch."

But I'm willing to change the policy to make special conditions for users whose pets they accidentally messed up, if they bought them through the GP Shop--if that's what the majority thinks is fair and right.

Policy Change?
Yes, if the pet is bought through the GP shop, user mistakes that change that pet should be refunded
No, all treatment should be equal (and for god's sake, put up a confirmation page!)
I am ambivalent to this policy.

Hey like I said. Was just a thought XD I'm just trying to be helpful. <br> It's a sticky situation, and understandably so.

Free Glittering Rocks for all would mean a HUGE increase in the Super Rare, Rare, Limited population on the site. Which means they wouldn't be so rare or limited anymore. I mean, if someone has a favourite pet that's, say, a Fennec Fox, they change it into something else and decide they made a mistake, get a Glittering Rock, I highly doubt it would end up being a Fennec Fox again...

figment: I didn't mean it like that. I didn't mean for the rocks to be used as a mechanism for future mistakes. I meant right now. Currently. One time only of a rock being sent out. You get the rock, you return your glitched pet back to normal, the end. And from this point on the current status quo of "Customs Only" getting the treatment stands.

I never meant "oh just solve the problem by handing out rocks" =P

But how would i know who's had the problem if I don't have the records? XD

I understand, but I'm saying that there are people who are complaining because they have something like an uncommon pet (Which are still fairly easy to get) and they accidentally turn it into a common pet. IE (And I did this earlier today, but I am really NOT complaining about it.) Fox Melo to Flamingo Reve. If they had the chance to change it into any non-hybrid pet on the site, I doubt it would be a Fox again. Chances are, they would turn it into an Ocean Dark or something. It's all about integrity. I mean, if you had a common pet, turned it into a more common pet, would you honestly, if you had the chance to get any pet on the site, turn it back into a common?

Well thats why i mentioned a mass sendout. You don't know whose who, so you could play it safe and say "ok well here. everyone gets one. shut up and play nice" XD After that, sorry you messed up for paid-for limited pet, but it's not a custom so no-go. Figment brought up a good point about "rares not being rare" anymore, but Fig thought I meant that a glittering rock be the solution everytime. If it's a one time only to clear up this current mess, then I don't see any rare pet population suddenly skyrocketing.

Or you can just send a glittering rock to the current report(s) you have on hand. If you don't have them on hand anymore, then either the user doesn't play anymore and has moved on.

-grins at Figgy-
If Jos ever accidentally turned Toba into something else.. even if he turned into a super rare pet, I'd do anything to make him an Ethiopian Wolf again.
But this may be because Jos is insane. xD

Figment: Those players wouldn't apply for even the current status quo of having their pet fixed. My suggestion is only for the current reports Slash has that regards paid-for pets, Custom or GP-bought. Not anything else.

I voted no because, for example, a Bonfire Melo is a Bonfire Melo whether you purchase it with GP or are lucky and get it via Bottled Autumn or some other GPless method. I understand people being frustrated if they ruin a pet they spent GP on through the shop, but people also pay GP on the forums for pets as well and that wouldn't be refunded. So, yeah. As it is, the confirmation page should help with all the confusion and hopefully prevent errors like this from happening again. - Eri

I knew you didn't mean everytime. But think of it this way. We have over 700 users on the site. There are certain pets that have only 10 of that pet on the site currently. Those pets are insanely rare and hard to get. Lots of people are lusting after those pets. The owners of those pets worked hard to get those pets, normally, be it from RE, TRE, Rogue, Glitter Rocks, Potions, or whatever. They were not simply given to them. They quested for them, possibly for hours, they did a lot to get them. Now. Send a glittering rock to all 800+ members of the site and the pet now has 30+ copies on the site, rather than 10. The original 10 owners' work was for nothing. They could have waited to get a Rock and just gotten it that way like everyone else. It doesn't seem right that one user plays for days to get a Potion or Egg or whatever to get the rare pet, then another just gets "Here you go, have any pet on the site that you want just because ten people complained."
