Policy Change Poll

Pets

Currently, the on-site policy regarding mistakes is that:

If the administration or programmers cannot reproduce a "glitch" that irreversibly changed your pet, you will not get it back, unless it's a custom.

Currently, people who buy GP are arguing that if they paid GP to buy their pet, like a Monthly or a Special Edition, and make a mistake with a potion (for example), they should get the pet back because it was bought with real money.

This would work like this: if you have donated and bought the pet through the GP store, you have the right to have your pet changed back if something happens to it by user mistake (NOT glitch, glitches are always refunded). If you didn't, you don't.

So, the user who gains a Monthly Pet/Super Rare/Limited through Rogue, Hippie Mushroom, Glittering Rock, Eggs, the Wild, etc and accidentally change it are SOL because it wasn't bought through the GP Shop.

My stance against this is, in essence, I don't want to discriminate between the user who earns their rare pet through site means to the user who buys their pet in the GP shop. So they both get the same response: "Sorry, user error, not a glitch."

But I'm willing to change the policy to make special conditions for users whose pets they accidentally messed up, if they bought them through the GP Shop--if that's what the majority thinks is fair and right.

Policy Change?
Yes, if the pet is bought through the GP shop, user mistakes that change that pet should be refunded
No, all treatment should be equal (and for god's sake, put up a confirmation page!)
I am ambivalent to this policy.

Insurance. I like that. xDD
But once a confirmation page is added won't it be kind of unneeded?

Hahaha pet insurance would rule. XDYou thought items were bad on the database... Well it's just such a rock and a hard place situation. The problem is this transitional period, not so much what do we do after. Is there no records at all that you have Slash of the reported "unrepeatable glitches" currently? I mean only the people who you still have active messages/reports at the very second you posted this? (Not going to count people reporting afterwards).

Perhaps if you could just log the most recent previous form for a few days? I know it would still be horrid on the DB, but say... for 24 hours, the DB would record the change. If a user doesn't reset the pet within 24 hours, they obviously didn't do it accidentally. Or even just for a few hours, like 3 hours or something. I mean who in their right mind would "Oops, there goes my rare pet... -goes to do something else-"

I like the limited window idea. lol I'm too scared to even take my custom with me when I visit Kaz, let alone dig through my inventory, so the logic makes sense to me.

pet insurance would be hilarious. I might even buy it too.

Or if that would put to much strain on it, perhaps a once-a-day reset button for the pets? That way, once a day, if the player made a mistake, they could retrieve the data from the previous day and return their pet to what it was that way?

Thats a good idea. Though maybe there should be a bigger limit on that. Say maybe once or twice a month, that way the user is careful with their actions, they get this reset item. After all, like we said before, people should be careful with their treasured pets, regardless of paid or not. (and as a joke, is there a vote on that poll for: And for the love of god add an item to the advent calendar! ;) You know I love you Slash lol)

True. If there were a more drastic limit to it, people would HAVE to be more careful with them. It would probably be a LITTLE less stressful on the servers, too. How hard would it be to code something like that, though?

Wow. Just from reading this I have learned some things about the site.
I had no idea Kaz could do things to your pets. Nor did I know that any potions, etc, would only work on your active pet.
I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, I'm just saying I didn't know. I think it'd be a nice addition to the site to have somewhere in the forums that tells you what certain areas can potentially do to your active pet. O_o I also like the ideas of coding the active pet image onto whatever item you're using as well as a confirmation page. And maybe even an annoying as all hell double confirmation saying something like "Are you sure you're sure? You can't complain if you fuck up after this warning." Other than those suggestions, I haven't voted. I'm torn on the issue.

Serapynth: Kaz would just knock down you pets energy or health, nothing like turn your pet into a meep. I was just demonstrating how careful some people are with their rares and customs, without even touching a random item. So don't be scared of Kaz. ;)
