Snake Solis

It's the 5th anniversary of Steve Irwin's death. It's strange how it's already been five years since he died... I still watch his show on Animal Planet, and he had always shown reptiles in a positive light, something we still need more of in the media.

In his memory I released some more snake-related Solis into Explore:

Did Steve Irwin inspire you?

What a lovely tribute to his memory! His presence is missed by many, he touched so many people and was the voice for many creatures that were frowned upon. The saying is mankind fears what they do not know or don't understand. He educated people to respect not fear his beloved critters. He is missed.

Really? Five years now? I can't believe, it's so long.
I saw his show yesterday on TV with my parents and we talked about his death. I think the whole world is missing him. He was a really awesome person.

Steve Irwin was and still is one of my greatest role-models. He was as brave and wonderful person as I've ever seen on TV-- he's the driving force behind my love of reptiles. I still have a photo when I was much younger at his zoo in Australia... It's one of my greatest memories, being able to see the place where he worked and that saved so many wonderful animals :3

I absolutely love Steve~ Everything about him is great. And I love reptiles too. I even have 8 pet snakes! And I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

It's been five years really? It seems almost like it was yesterday were we would be sitting down and watching the new and eagerly awaited for episode. He was truly an inspiration for me and helped me understand that most of the reptiles aren't as bad as I once believed and many more species I hadn't even know about were brought to my attention. Thank you for your tribute for him and his works <3

I love that his legacy is about caring for and seeing the beauty in all animals, rather than how he died, which could have turned people against the animal that did it. People understand that it was a freak occurrence, and that he would still want us to adore and understand every animal, including the rays. <3

Steve Irwin was a huge inspiration to me growing up. I used to watch 'Crocodile Hunter' all the time. I wanted to be an exotic vet tech and my dream was to one day work at australia zoo with him. I cried when he died, I couldn't believe that such a wonderful person would be taken so early from us. He showed us how all animals desirve our respect, and how important every living thing is. He was a beautiful person and no one will every be able to replace him.

Wow, 5 yrs? 'We are very much an animal family anyway, and my eldest was a huge fan, (me = David Attenborough fan ;) ) but Steve Irwin did so much to make learning about animals (not just reptiles) fun for kids and adults alike.
He and his family were/are also great role models.
In October 2006 we also lost a dear friend of ours, and the double-blow to my eldest was horrible at the time.
Kudos to you Slash. <3
