Hi guys, the Breeding Department and I have a proposition for you to vote on.
Are you in favor of eliminating old x new lineart support for the LBC/HLBC in exchange for expanding alternate pet linearts?
What does this mean? Let's break it down...
Cons
- You would no longer be able to submit an old x new lineart breeding via LBC or HLBC unless you are using your own predicts
- You would not be able to submit an alternate x other lineart breeding of a same pet genus via LBC or HLBC (which we currently do not allow, anyway)
Pros
- We would be able to offer you alternate linearts for Aywas pet genuses that you could make customs from without harming the Breeding department's wait time, giving you a wider range of poses
- The breeding department would become healthier and faster as LBC and HLBC requests between two different lineart pets would not require the attention of site hybrid artists
- Price ceiling on old x new predicts would be eliminated so you or your artists could charge whatever desired for your different lineart but same genus predicts. (note that price ceiling on other predicts would still be in effect)
If this action were to pass, breedings already in the queue would not be affected by the new action. The action would apply to breedings that are submitted from its approval and out.
Approval rate needs to meet 70% "Yes" to be approved.

I voted yes because as people have said, lightening the load on the artists is always a plus. I do not really understand why people would charge a lot for predicts, as it would basically be like taking a pet commission when you already have all the details for what goes on it right in front of you. If I were more skilled in photoshop, I would probably even attempt to do breeding predicts for people. As it is, I am not confident enough in my line and shading techniques. As with most things, this coming into fruition will have its pros and cons, as stated, and considering the number of old lineart pets around (melos seem to be the most common), things will no doubt be bumpy for a while.

So...breeding an old melo to new melo (lineart wise) would mean that you'd need to submit predicts? (And, of course, pay someone to make them for you!)
That seriously messes up my breeding plans for a whole bunch of customs. :P *votes No*

I'm personally for it, seeing as I do all my own predicts anyway. It's a personal assurance that I get what I want. However, I don't go the whole.. Hybrid route. I'm too cheap, after all, to afford a breeding coin. It'll get more economy for artists who sell predicts, too. I think it's a rather decent idea, and I like seeing the alt linearts. I mean, I haven't seen many, still waiting on making more Orimis to see which lineart gets used. OTher than the love potion #9's and the alt reves, there aren't a whole lot other than the older ones. If it's just one thing less for the artists to do, but something WE, as unhired site artists, can still do, I'm all for it. - Pande

No support at all. Especially due to the price ceiling part. I dont wasnt every artist able to charge me anything they please like 15 gp per predict just because they can and I don't wasnt to wait 3 months for a breeding. :/ plus, I dont wasnt wasnt to have to use rarer coins like holiday and BCs just because of this. Alt line art isn't worth it to me.

If it passes I think that alt x normal line art breedings should be allowable with predicts. That was old line arts are treated as alts consistently.
I also feel that there should be another (possibly shorter) window to convert customs to new line arts without dawn crystals. I feel like breeding makes a huge impact on the decision to convert or not for a lot of people.
I voted no anyway because I'd rather see new species than new alts. I feel like there's already tons of alts.

@ Kaze: The price ceiling for predicts created by users has been in effect for a while now and was announced in the news as soon as it went into effect. Artists, right now, cannot charge more than 10GP for a set of 4 predicts for normal species and 5 GP for 1 hybrid predict. So, if this were to pass artists can begin to charge whatever they want for oldxnew predicts. But same line art predicts (and hybrid) would still have the ceiling.

I'm undecided on this. I do understand how having different line-arts can slow down the breeding process and I don't think it would be to much of a problem for people to make their own predicts. If you like having the surprise of what your pet will look like then have someone make predicts and don't look at them.
I don't agree though with taking away the price ceiling. If I'm already buying a design, custom crystal/orb, either a second custom or breeding fee, breeding coin, and predicts I don't think artists should be able to charge anything they want for predicts especially if you have to have them to do the breeding. I could understand it if predicts were optional but not if they are mandatory.
I also think we're missing a problem with the alt line-arts. If you breed a pair of customs and get offspring with the alt lines then you have to have another pet with the alt lines to breed them. This means I can't make my own line of pets because it would be very difficult to keep straight which pets can breed with an old line version, new line version, and one or more alt line versions. It would not only make finding customs to breed with from other people difficult but it would make it really hard to breed your own pets together.
I think that we need to have seperate polls for these issues. There are so many different things (oldxnew breedings, alt lines, predict prices) that it's hard to vote when you agree with one and not the other two or however you divide it up. I don't think it's right to vote on them all at once because while they are similar and kind of related they are also very different issues.

Yes its to slow. And I think old x new lineart problems should of been brought up before. I Did not KNOW it was a problem/would take longer when I submitted melo breedings. if I had known I would of waited on those :(

I would say go for it if you allow people a certain period of time to switch their old lineart pets over to the new lines for free, without need of a dawn crystal, so people would have a better opportunity of dealing with this change in the rules. I'd also prefer if the price of predicts for HBCs/BCs was not so expensive... BC candy is meant to help lighten the load of BC artists, but personally I would never get predicts done for those coins, they're just so expensive when the coin is already so pricey, and when I could simply wait. =/ I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, and while I know the artists load is lightened by predict items, I think it could be allowed to be so much more helpful by a reduction in price.
