The optimization and talking to the guy who did it has brought up some major longevity problems with Aywas. We cannot go on as we are: with so many pets and items. We cannot.



The first problem is pets. There are too many pets owned by users. Before I changed the capture success rate to 10%, you were getting them at 50%. There are over ten THOUSAND pets on the site in two weeks.



The second problem is items. There are too many, again. The games hand them out like crack. The inventory table is also essentially what's causing the site to lag even though we've optimized.



These two things combined will kill Aywas. It will. I need some solutions.

Obviously there's the idea that we can wipe everything and start fresh for beta testing and move out of alpha, with the 10% capture rate and reducing how many items the games give out. It will hurt but it would be the best option.



Alternately, we can provide a mass deletion option so you can delete your items/pets that you don't need. like, keep your super rares but ditch everything uncom and com for the good of the site. This might work. We don't know. But it's something worth trying.


Obviously I'm hoping for other possibilities. But the future is dark for aywas if we go as we are. This is only a temporary solution, the optimizing we did, and it will eventually crack and break.


So, does anyone have alternatives?

5) Make vials/orbs/shards harder to get. I don't like the idea of a cap on our lairs, <i>especially</i> if there's going to be 300 different breeds of Aywas. My personal goal on this game is to catch one of each breed and I know that I'm not the only one who thinks like that. Please don't take any possibility of obtaining this goal away from us, just make it a lot harder to get there. Quit handing out the vials like candy. Up the prices of the orbs in the GP shop. Make it a lot harder, but not impossible. That will up the challenge factor for us, making us even more addicted and sending greater revenue your way while still significantly slowing down the site growth.<br>

my main issue with the site wipe is the concern for those who have spent GP and gotten custom breedings and such.
I'm in favor of a mass deletion. There is probably not a way to do this but maybe the deposit box could be made to hold only like 20 item slots for different items and then an option to erase all items not in the deposit box.
As for pets I think 10 is a good number to let everyone keep? I do like having lots of pets... so I'm in favor of making pets rarer to encounter rather than a limit... Yikes it would be hard to pick just 10 XD.

maybe to make up for less items energy could go up a little faster? I could live with inventory caps. A use it or lose it philosophy. Right now I just go to zave and he dumps food on me. I mean... 70 a day? it adds up fast since I have 80 plus pets.He could maybe give out foods to 10 % of your pets instead? so i'd get 8 a day.

I'd be fine with the wipe... AS LONG AS we were able to keep our customs and babies and hopefully the parents of said babies. I have quite a few aywas I'd be bummed to lose, but I could recatch them. My customs, babies, and the parents of those babies are all characters I'm very attached to however. I'd hate to lose them. D: (Though really. Now that I think about it. The only non custom/baby I'd be very upset about losing is my Husky, Kaskae. I adore his character. I do NOT want to lose any of my customs or babies though.) It would make me sad. Particularly since I've spent so much on them. D:

I have no problems wiping all items though. It would suck, but I could deal.

I'd REALLY rather opt for the mass deletion option though. :3

I think we need a sellback option. Yes we can throw items into the dump but I think with sellback people might be more willing to get rid of some nice items they have.

1.) Get rid of most of the food items that affect only hunger percentage. Very few people have any real use for those and their images just use up space on the server.
2.) Get rid of apprentices altogether. What real purpose do they serve when you can just get a rainbow phanto or goldfish gael exploring?
3.) Delete all the common strays.
4. Since I adore all of the melos and want to collect a full set I would be very upset if I am limited to keeping only 5-10. That would mean I would have to continuously give something up to have room for a rare or bred. Actually, what incentive would I have to buy breeding coins if I wasn't able to keep anything I bred?
5. Slow down the release of new colors. Bulk introduction bogs down the site and creates chaos with people releasing pets to make room for the new ones.

I do not think we should only have a 10% catch rate. We should have more than that for the super rare pets. They will be hard to find, and now nearly impossible to catch. Maybe 10% for common, and 50% for the super rare so we have a better chance when we finnally do find one.
