Sketch!
The Melo is the only remaining pet from the old art. The art itself is three years old, and has many proportion flaws.
An update would consist of:
- all new colorations occurring on the new melo base
- old lineart can be submitted for two months past the revamp completion without requiring Dawn Crystal
- existing customs have a 6-month period to convert to the new base for free
- old and new can breed together fine with LBC, where old x old = old, but old x new = new, as with all other revamps we've done
A revamp would take 1-3 months for us to complete as it is. Above is the sketch we have for our redraw melo. It is trying to be as close to the original melo proportion-wise as possible, while trying to fix some of the glaring errors on the original.
After that comes the lineart, then we start recoloring all the old colorations onto the new lineart. (: There are two ways we can go forward from here.
So, yeah. What do you want?
BTW, you can redline the sketch if you want.
Here's something a bunch of people on the forums did

... what happened to the melo possibly being retired and made subspecies? I really liked that idea D:

The legs still aren't level on that one Imay. And I'm still liking Inu's lining if we HAVE to have it redrawed. But Cheery brought up a good point, what happened to the sub-species idea? Is that out of the question now?

aww I like Imay's.. an part of god's an part of Inu's.. It would be the frankenstein of melos.. I'm good with the melo either way as they're not my absolute favorite pet. *clings to dawn crystal for plasma soli to stay as he is now*

While I like a lot of these redlines, there's just something that bothers me about them that also shows in the current sketch; that being that the head looks too far forward making the head look a little detached.
Save for that one thing, i do like these other redlines.
Although the melo, being one of the more popular pets should be revamped with caution.

I really really do not like this new sketch. It makes the Melos - a creature that is already very desu-desu-kawaii chan (ugh, I feel dirty for even saying that as a mockery) even more distressingly bubbly and 'chibi'. As Inu said, the whole of the thing may have fixed some of the errors from the original lines, but it replaced them with even worse ones. Glaring ones.
I don't mind a re-do so much, but not from this sketch. I've seen a few good 'redlines' that I think should be taken into consideration.
And I agree that there are a lot of things wrong with the posing and anatomy on this new guy. The head/facial expression reminds me of those "DERP DERP DERP" meme things on /b/, the body is fat and baby-like, there is no definition on the legs as to where the ankles" are...and all the fluff that made it charming originally is gone.
The viewer's left, near back leg is distorted and awful and the feet are like elephant feet - fat and ugly. I'll toss in a blue line or whatnot as soon as I get my tablet hooked up. :/

This guy needed to be revamped, seeing as the melo lines looked really bad, compared to all the newer pet lineart.
I also think you guys are handling this conversion in a smooth way, which is good.

Kelli - I honestly don't doubt that. XD I think the only foot I changed was the back one, toes not included? That and I draw at an angle anyway. I only traced the whole thing to see what it'd look like without the sketch underneath. I was mainly focusing on the face.

I rather like Imay's redline. As it is now on the news post, I do not care for it so much. The face just looks... wrong (pointy cheeks much?) and the legs are very odd to me. Imay did a nice red line to fix those oddity's.

Its face has been squashed...o.O! I much prefer the old melo :(

Normally I wouldn't bother with redlining, but as the Melo is my favourite site pet, I gave it a go. My attempt at redline. Please ignore the tail. x.x I don't like how it came out. And I like the way God redlined the ears better. XD This is just my two cents.
