Melo Redraw?

The Melo is the only remaining pet from the old art. The art itself is three years old, and has many proportion flaws.

An update would consist of:
- all new colorations occurring on the new melo base
- old lineart can be submitted for two months past the revamp completion without requiring Dawn Crystal
- existing customs have a 6-month period to convert to the new base for free
- old and new can breed together fine with LBC, where old x old = old, but old x new = new, as with all other revamps we've done

A revamp would take 1-3 months for us to complete as it is. Above is the sketch we have for our redraw melo. It is trying to be as close to the original melo proportion-wise as possible, while trying to fix some of the glaring errors on the original.

After that comes the lineart, then we start recoloring all the old colorations onto the new lineart. (: There are two ways we can go forward from here.

So, yeah. What do you want?

BTW, you can redline the sketch if you want.

Personally, I do think a smaller head would be good, as well as... more lively of an expression? My problem with the old melo and this one are that the expression is just kinda...spacey? I'm sure color/shading in the eyes would fix this a bit, but I'd definitely like to see more personality in the pet.

That being said, revamp is very much wanted, IMO. But the melo is my least favorite species right now, so I'm probably biased.

@Jojo... I have no idea how you got that from this image.

I'm liking this version more--the body is round instead of square and weird like the old one. Not digging the cankles on the front legs or the wideness of the furthest cheek. Ears need some work. Would be great if we could take this opportunity to nix the weird half-eyebrow thing the old one had going on instead of carrying it over. Overall, I like it better, but I'm not sure if it's worthwhile to completely revamp the entire Melo breed into something that looks mostly the same.

Here's a "blue" line.

While I am not against a revamp, I find that this sketch fixes errors that are in the old lineart and replaces them with new more glaring errors.
I did this blue line with a mouse, but it helps get rid of the crushed look of the face. The head is probably too tall but ehh.

Manely, I felt that the head was too far to the side that it looked about ready to blop off of the body, and the legs looked a little too stiff.

I probably went over-board but as I was doing this, I felt more and more mistakes appeared. XD

But yeah, I wouldn't mind a revamp, I just am not fond of this sketch.
