The Melo is the only remaining pet from the old art. The art itself is three years old, and has many proportion flaws.
An update would consist of:
- all new colorations occurring on the new melo base
- old lineart can be submitted for two months past the revamp completion without requiring Dawn Crystal
- existing customs have a 6-month period to convert to the new base for free
- old and new can breed together fine with LBC, where old x old = old, but old x new = new, as with all other revamps we've done
A revamp would take 1-3 months for us to complete as it is. Above is the sketch we have for our redraw melo. It is trying to be as close to the original melo proportion-wise as possible, while trying to fix some of the glaring errors on the original.
After that comes the lineart, then we start recoloring all the old colorations onto the new lineart. (: There are two ways we can go forward from here.
So, yeah. What do you want?
BTW, you can redline the sketch if you want.

The shape of the paws is just WEIRD. I dunno where its ankle went. I don't like the shapes of the legs (especially the near hind one). The head is like MEGA huge. I know the melo is cutesy, but we don't have to go full on kawaii desu chibi on it. :/ The neck is too long and skinny and the pose of it seems off. The line of the back looks weird. The eyes are different sizes/shapes. The muzzle is weird.
I know it's just a sketch, but I'd hate to see the melo revamped to this. Sorry.

I really am a fan of the existing colorations. I don't see a real need to change them.

To be honest, I don't see a massive difference between the current art and the sketch... Not enough to make changing it worthwhile, anyway. It just feels like there are so many revamps in the works, bugs that need to be sorted out, and plans for more areas of the site, that adding yet another thing to work on just... isn't necessary at the moment, especially when the change probably wouldn't be that significant.
Buuut from the poll it seems I'm in the minority, so hey!

Also, I sincerely appreciate this opportunity to express my concerns before another species revamp. However, I would appreciated it more for species that were once my favorites. I think it'd be a good rule of thumb to keep discussions like this in the news or linked from the news posts. Not all of us stalk all areas of this site all the time. Just saying...

I don't like the sketch's paws. :C They're... um. kinda blobby. I like the old melo's paws.
