Pets
As some of you have found out on your own and/or have seen from the scattered posts among the bugs, help, and admin forums... a few of the recent items currently aren't working.
These said items are...
-Random Rogr Potion*
-Dawn Crystal*
-Metal Crystal*
-Bottled Spring*
-Orange Crystal*
-Flame Crystal*
-Breeding Coin
-Gold Sprinkler
The items marked by a * are items that can be fixed by Slash and will hopefully be working again here soon. Everything else unfortunately has to be fixed by the coders themselves. Now that we actually know the reason for the problem with why these items no longer work we can help prevent this from happening again in the future.
On another note, my last news post asked for some suggestions on how to judge contests. I got a few PMs and some comments on the post... but I got an overwhelming amount of suggestions for actual contests rather than how to hold them. Two contests that were mentioned to me were a Photography Contest and a Crafting Contest. What are your thoughts on these? How should we judge them? Obviously any contest we hold that isn't based on luck or isn't random only caters to certain groups of people. Any ideas for other types of contests we can hold? How could we go about doing this?

Gosh darn, I might need to split this up anyway...
Thanks for letting us know what's on the fritz BJ ^^ Glitches happen all the time online on all sites so I'm not about to throw a fit over it ;)
As for contests... that's a hard one because someone somewhere will always feel excluded somehow. Personally, from the two you suggested, only one would be viable for me. From my experience on other sites, it can never be something where people would have to go and BUY the materials to take part (a pet peeve of mine over a contest on another site recently).

As for judging the photography you immediately hit a wall. How can you prove that person took it? What if someone here is a professional photographer - it immediately sets them above the rest because they have the equipment and experience to aid in a beautiful shot, whereas someone else might only have a cellphone to use.
The thing with any contest is that some may not be able to enter, but I'm sure people can still enjoy reading/looking at them none-the-less.

You need a certain theme for contests like these, or you'll get entries that are all over the place. You could say, for instance, "Make an aywa out of pipe cleaners" or "recreate one of the Aywas food items using REAL food", or something like that. And you'd definitely need a pool of judges who aren't biased, and who aren't participating, or it'll never be fair. XD As for the photography contest, I'm not really sure how that'd work. Maybe take a picture and then make a caption for it? Or try to photograph something irl that looks like something on Aywas? Not sure.

I quite enjoyed the last contest for the Paleo - it didn't have to be GOOD to win, and I think that was important. Maybe more contests on that sort of theme would be good - like you put up a picture of a random pet and people have to write a paragraph about it's past or something like that. It wouldn't have to be serious - just 5-ish sentences/whatever word-limit to enter them into the draw.
Or maybe an art contest that can only be done using something like MS Paint and only using stick men. Something that everyone can have a go at.

i would suggest the photography contest to be... find things / persons in Real Life that looks or named same as on Aywas, example a guy who look like Kaz.. :P

Crafting? Been there, done that in an aywas theme.
Titbird model? Oh yes. Clay/Modeling Part. SOCK part xD, Plushie Part/any fabric, etc.

Crafting contest would be fun. I'd totally make a Quetzal plushie out of a sock.
