Update on Chargeback Situation

Site Update

Due to our inability to find a favorable result with Amazon Payments, we have decided to remove our option to pay with Amazon Payments for the USD Shop and GP Purchases. We will only be taking PayPal until further notice, including with the USD Auction.

Unfortunately, with this situation, all payments being sent there are immediately being taken from us, which leaves us unable to pay artists for the items you purchase. This is unacceptable, and thus we will only be taking PayPal until the situation is fully resolved.

EDIT: We can offer manual processing of transactions through Square to those who cannot or do not want to use PayPal. To read more about this option, please visit the knowledge base.

Please remember that you can help us out with this situation by going to the Special Cash Auctions. Some of the pets will be ending tomorrow!

We will invoice all the winners when all pets' auctions have expired. The auctions will be completely over on Thu May 14, 2015 7:33pm. Be sure to get in any last minute bids!

I don't see how double chargebacks are happening.. wouldn't the credit card company (or bank) realize that certain payments have already been charge backed. and not let allow for it to happen again. As I'm not sure where that money goes to. If it goes to the user - if any of the money goes to the users - isn't that fraud and therefore illegal. Is a lawsuit even necessary? I mean. If there is proof the user got what they paid for. Whether it is digital or not. They can't just go and undo it legally can they? Then wouldn't everyone just go shopping and be like ya know what I'll just chargeback and get some freebies. Why shoplift from the story when I can sit on my butt on do it? Then again, I'm not exactly sure what a chargeback is... I'll have to look into it. As maybe it is buy stuff with money you don't have.. so it is the bank or credit card company seizing the money for themselves... but if that was the case... but apparently the chargeback went back to months ago.. and I'm pretty sure if that was the case... then the chargebacks would have happened sooner... I just don't understand how this is even a thing. Only if a credit card was stolen.. unless they stole a credit card to buy the stuff... Maybe they stole their parent's credit card or something. If the user was an adult then it doesn't really matter if was their child. it could still be claimed as a stolen card. Maybe even with a child. But I think it is tough poop if the kid is a minor as they in charge of the kid and shouldn't have allowed it to happen... But I digress.. I'm having a really hard time wrapping my head around this. I don't get it. It seems like a way to circumvent commerce laws. O.o /really needss to google but don't have the desire to learn at this time lmao

also, on an unrelated note.. speaking of bank accounts paypal. I don't remember if I ended up putting in my bank account or not into paypal. But I accidentally had two accounts at some point and got locked out of one and was freaking out because it had at least my card info on it still... but I ended up getting in touch with paypal. and I had the account closed. It took awhile, the help desk once I got the right person was incredibly helpful and easy. It was super scary all the stuff that was being asked of me. I think I needed to call to get around it all and shut down the account as that was indeed my intent since the email I used for it was defunct. So if it won't let you take off a bank account without you replacing it.. It is probably best to contact paypal and have the account shut down. Then get a new one. I don't *think* that is against policy or they would have had beef with me since I used my debit card at least once on both account (stupidly. one should never use debit cards online lol)... so yeah.. There is a workaround in undoing the bank account thing maybe?

I've had no problems with PayPal being linked to my checking account they have made dishonest sellers honest for me, same thing with Amazon. Sucks what happened with them but with the USD your making on the cash auctions you'll more then make up for it & if those charges get cleared/refunded you'll get your money man I & then some.

To everyone asking about my not shiny paypal warnings-

Yeah, Paypal has a horrible, and I mean, horrible customer service department in my experience.
If their system sends a payment due to your bank instead of the card you selected, and your bank is often sitting at 5-50$ in it(my life!), you will get hit with overdraft fees- and paypal will refuse to switch the payment over to the correct card.

If you do not remember to switch it over EVERY SINGLE TRANSACTION, it will ALWAYS force the payment to come from the bank account first. I have tried multiple times to switch it to the credit cards first- no dice. My partner managed it, and when he saw that my account wouldn't let me, he also tried to fight with customer service- again, no dice.

What this means is, Paypal, in order to save the 20cents credit card fee, will force transactions to come from your bank account *if at all possible*, sometimes even changing the funds source mid transaction, back to the bank account as the source.

Some accounts seem to not have this problem, however it is a HUGE problem for accounts opened in other countries or that choose not to list a social security number (What they want to force me to give before allowing the change in primary account source). Which is- yanno, insane.

And paypal customer service is laughable at best and table flippingly bad at worst.
I have had businesses flat up steal my money (Via a not advertized game mechanic that let others steal things you held, including USD items the exact same moment they were delivered to you, and they had mods watching new players to steal the funds as they bought them), for less scrupulous online games, and been told by paypal "The seller gave you the item, sorry."

And let's not get started on the unfair business practices that go both ways on the whole sellers vs buyers thing on Paypal (Both sides get hosed.)

I hope everything gets square with amazon. I've never had a bad time with them, but I could totally understand under these circumstances. This was quite a big deal, IMO.

Also, I have my bank connected to two different PayPal's and never had a problem. I've had only good thing from PayPal, as well. *shrug* online things.. Its good or bad, not much of an in between usually.

I've never, ever have ever had issues with PayPal. It's linked to my bank and there is a magical thing called not allowing your account to get over drafted, so if you try to make a purchase and you don't have the money in your account- you can't make the purchase. That avoids all the fees and issues. I've worked with Paypal's customer service and had a lovely interaction, to boot. Soooo.... XD

I'm so glad that the aywas community is trying to help out. :D Aywas is one of the best pet sites out there! I've been trying to persuade my Mom to use her credit card but I don't think it's working and the pet I want to bid on expires tomorrow :( One day when I get myself a credit card I'll finally be able to support the site even if it's a little bit.
