I think that over breeding is something that depends on the pets being bred. It seems like something that would have to be decided on a case by case basis based on how rare people want certain edits to be. I don't think there is one generic number that can be set for an over breeding limit especially considering that unedited pets bred with PLBC or PMBC will bear no resemblance to their parents. Over breeding seems to be something best left to users to decide on a pet by pet basis. Perhaps the most reasonable generic definition would be to only allow so many breedings per month (maybe somewhere from 1 to 3?). However, it seems to me that the main concern in breedings is any profit being made rather than the number of babies. Partly due to over breeding being such a vague term and the fact that there are many different issues users are considering regarding over breeding, I think it is the responsibility of users who have no over breeding rules to define exactly what over breeding means to them.

There is no such thing as overbreeding, IMO.

I think that overbreeding is based on the individual and should never be limited as a rule. Some customs are very expensive and it would not be worth it to pay out that much to have someone tell you you cant do something with them.

There are people that breed just to have their own population of pretties and I dont think that is anyones business than their own. It is simple ...just a couple of clicks...to see how many siblings a pet has and therefore your choice if you want to buy it or not.

I hope that this poll is not leading to breeding limits because I for one would really not like that on any form of pets.

As far as the inbreeding issues....which some people seem to care about and some do not, I know other games have that stated in the pet profile. Wajas shows if a pet is inbred and at what percent (ie grandbaby with great great grand has a smaller percent than brother/sister breedings) So if that is really a concern for a lot of players, maybe something like that can be written to the code.

Please do not restrict breedings. I want a world of pretties from 2 sets of my customs....and if I get one I do not like as much, I sell it. If someone sees that it has a lot of siblings, they have the choice to buy it or not.

I have to fully agree with Saartje =RDF= (#33492).
It's a game, and is supposed to be fun. Staff should not be the ones setting any rules on over breeding as the site is literally all about breeding pets.
I have no rules set for over breeding as I understand that once I sell something, it's the new owners choice to do as they wish with the pet. Guidelines on how your pixel pets children should be handled is kind of silly IMO.

I think it should be up to the person. I mean, if you have a bunch of babies from one set of parents, how can you know if it's too much? I mean, if the babies are breeding with other pets then you can't call it inbreeding. However if sibling pets are breeding or parent-child pets are breeding THEN I would call it inbreeding, but overbreeding? I don't think there's a problem. It should be up to the individual I think.

If the person is breeding the same 2 pets over and over but the babies are different, who is to say it is overbreeding? (I am a personal fan of the hybrid genetics kit myself)

My opinion isn't represented.

I don't think over breeding is a problem.

Not represented opinion - In line with most of those who are here in the comments, it's less number of offspring and more frequency of them with the intent of selling. I mean I couldn't care less if you're hoarding a lineset, or you breed a pet a thousand times. If I'm letting edits out of my lair, there's a damn good chance that I'm not super attached to them and I'll be curious how you breed it, rather than caring that you are. As a baseline definition for vague breeding rules, then 10 seems fine I guess, it's up in the double digits, but if the rules are that vague then I don't think the breeding limit gets to stay with the pet's offspring.

I agree with the person (people? I haven't read all the comments) who said that it's a matter of breeding for profit. I know that most of my Tea Itoa lines are free to breed and I don't care if they're bred for eternity to the same other pet or different ones as long as people aren't breeding Tea Itoa to sell.

Breeding multiple times with both the parents being the same as opposed to just one parent being bred multiple times.

Overbreeding shouldn't be a hard limit. It's more reasonable to consider overbreeding as a number of breedings over time- for example, three or more breedings per 6 months. You could use pet age for customs or babies that have never been overlaid, but the time counter would have to start from whenever the last overlay happened for other pets.
