I believe it has more to do with the number of babies as opposed to the number of times bred. More than 6 babies on limited lines seems like overbreeding to me.

I usually put overbreeding on edit sets I want to keep limited, not markings/colors/etc so painted coins don't change anything on those I choose the rule for. But usually I try and define it by how rare I want the edits, or if I want them kept in lair etc. Generally though if I have a no overbreeding rule I wouldn't feel like it's being abused until over 8-10 breedings. If I have anything more strict than that I try and define it in the rule since I feel like 8-10 is about common with most people.

All I can say is leave it up to the user, but have them state it strictly in the rules, no vague terms.
If the website itself sets limits on breedings, I know I will leave for good, and it will probably lose out a LOT of money because that is the main focus, so we'll all be way more careful with breedings, buy less breeding items, and in general it would kill off the one fun feature of the site.

I agree with ariaalina (#39694). It is the amount and time. 10 in a month over breeding, 10 over a couple years fine.

I think the definition can also depend on whether you mean breedings or offspring since breedings gives you a much different number (+ ferts).

My Opnion is not reprsented in teh Poll. I think overbreeding is in teh users eyes. I woudl not have soem of my pets to have more then a certain amount of babies... But I am fascinated by "Get as many babies from one pet with as many different partners"-Projects as well. So I can't say I can find a rule for this.

I don't think over-breeding counts should be defined by anyone but a founder of a species (explained in the species page) or owner of the stud being used (as a breeding rule). If someone wants to use their same pets over & over, more power to them.

If anything I think that maybe the site should limit the times a type of breeding item can use on a given pair that requires parents genetics & colors to be represented. This limit is just to ensure that artists have the ability to make something unique with in a reasonable amount of thought & effort (nothing excessively hard) because they will be limited to what kind of results can be created before starting to duplicate or look similar to each other. 5 times (up to 10 offspring for normal pairs) would be a reasonable amount of variation I would expect for these types. So a lesser breeding coin could be used 5 times & give 10 variations of a common species, but up to 5 for hybrids for unmarried pair. But lets say someone uses a painted lesser breeding coin to create 20 babies, that is something the final image is coming out pretty unique each one & really the parents can create an infinite number of different looks within reason. There should be no problem ensuring there is variation & unique appearance to get these done. Thus, nolimit needed to be established by the site.

I think that there is no such thing as overbreeding a player should breed as much as he/she wants, I would say there would be a LIMIT on the PET, say 10 babies would be enough over that would be over breeding =D

My opinion is not represented in the poll.

I think it's totally subjective to the artist. I personally do not care who has the edits for my pets, or how many babies are out there. It's kind of a neat surprise for me sometimes when I'm browsing around and see pets that at some point came from one of mine.

I think that most people who are sensitive about it don't want to lose a sense of entitlement or exclusivity, which I think is stupid and has no place in a world of digital pets where breeding is possible.
