Snake Solis

Pets

It's the 5th anniversary of Steve Irwin's death. It's strange how it's already been five years since he died... I still watch his show on Animal Planet, and he had always shown reptiles in a positive light, something we still need more of in the media.

In his memory I released some more snake-related Solis into Explore:

Did Steve Irwin inspire you?

Aw! I can't believe that it's already been five years! Even though he put himself into so many dangerous situations, I admired how dedicated he was, and how enthusiastic he always seemed! I really didn't like snakes much then, but he made them interesting. I actually just saw a few minutes of his show yesterday, lol. I'm glad to know he's still making an impact :)

Wow five years already. His love for animals was inspiring, but on other parts I still think he was a bit foolish, and took unnecessary risks.

He always inspired me and still does. I am pretty sure that my reptile fixation and love for alligators comes from him. I love him to pieces, and knowing that he is gone still makes me a little depressed. :( I am glad that this site is acknowledging him even still, it makes me that much more in love with the staff here. ^_^ ~Kaila

I loved Steve. Wait, scratch that- I love Steve. An amazing human being. When I was younger, I assumed everyone who lived/has been to Australia had met Steve. He was probably the third of fourth thing out of my mouth in conversation. My grandparents (who raised me) and I would watch his show every night, and during the day when they played re-runs and I was not at school, I'd watch those too. The other night I was in Florida at our hotel, in the bathroom brushing my teeth. Of course, since I don't have cable and the hotel did, I had the TV on the Animal Planet, as it was our entire. trip. Steve's show came on. First thing I called out: "WHY IS STEVE ON TV!? 8D 8D 8D" Just from his voice. It's that imprinted on my memory. Lately I've even begun a quest for his show on DVD. Because I miss it. He probably was on of my biggest influences as to why I love animals today. Him and Corwin, but let's face it- Jeff isn't half as awesome.

He was the only Idol I ever had! I never liked any of the other popular people because most stars are rather spoiled and truly care not for their fans and a more hot shots. Steve Irwin on the other hand enjoyed teaching, was very expressive, loved what he did and had a goal to teach people in the world about animals. I am kinda shocked that there were no other reptile releases as crocs were his favorite animal. SILV~
