Let's give a warm welcome to the Oakl!
Thunderhoof and Stormcloud Oakls
These two colors will be special edition. The Oakl itself will be relatively rare, with most species showing up in explore at a level of rare or higher. But how do you obtain these colors? Well it's simple. There are two ways.
I will be giving out 10 Stormclouds and 10 Thunderhooves to random people throughout the next day. So staying online has its benefits! Second, you can try to win one of ten SE Oakls in this thread:

New Cash Shop Items

I didn't want to think about it, but it's really inevitable. We do it now, or we're going to do it later. Since we're in alpha, it's best to do it now.
We're getting everything recoded.
What does this mean to you? Not really anything, except that in three months (the new coder set this deadline--he's very, very experienced in optimized coding) everything will be recoded and fresh and ready to play on. He's going to import all the info so you won't lose anything. He even said he'd code the ability to put items and backgrounds on your pets =)
Everything will run as planned until we make the switch. There will be updates, new colors added, contests run, etc. We just have to make some do with the lag until the new site is coded then we can all migrate over there and be happy. I'm still gonna move this version of the site (v1) over to the new server so we should be experiencing some speed pick ups but nothing compared to what we'll have with fully, completely optimized coding from the ground up. =)
I needn't say this is expensive. Due to this I have put a shitton of cool items in the cash shop. Support the recode! (and the 200/month server bill)
I'm also going to have coded an item that will hatch your eggs immediately =) Upgrades will also be coming soon. If you have any suggestions for items that can go in the cash shop so we can raise the money for the recode (even if they're ideas and not in existence!), let me know!
I'm really looking forward to putting a Titbird on my pets!

Since I peared your inventories, I'll be adding 10,000 BP to all accounts. =D Hopefully this should be enough as an average reimbursement. Besides Zave will feed all your pets to 100% once a day when the coder gets on to implement that =) Right now Zave's being spanked by Kaz though. *snicker*

So we do have a few user made suggestions that will ultimately help the site. I am deleting all common items in all inventories. Your stuff like 100% restore items, spheres, eggs, coins, etc will not be touched by this, nor will any slot gaining items.
I need you to continue releasing unwanted pets.
Zave will be changed so he fills up all your pets hunger to 100% once a day instead of giving you items. Throwing Bones will only give out items in level 4 and 5 but they will be better now. Slots will be give out more bp and less items.
I think we'll be able to get through this. Deleting the commons is freeing up a ton of database entries. It's really helping.
I think I will be changing explore cost to 1 Energy 1 Hunger per explore too. But that will come later.

I need you to "release" (stray) any unwanted pets you have so I can delete them. The stray fee has been set to 1. This is going to be our first attempt at solving this problem until our programmer comes online to code a mass deletion feature.

The optimization and talking to the guy who did it has brought up some major longevity problems with Aywas. We cannot go on as we are: with so many pets and items. We cannot.
The first problem is pets. There are too many pets owned by users. Before I changed the capture success rate to 10%, you were getting them at 50%. There are over ten THOUSAND pets on the site in two weeks.
The second problem is items. There are too many, again. The games hand them out like crack. The inventory table is also essentially what's causing the site to lag even though we've optimized.
These two things combined will kill Aywas. It will. I need some solutions.
Obviously there's the idea that we can wipe everything and start fresh for beta testing and move out of alpha, with the 10% capture rate and reducing how many items the games give out. It will hurt but it would be the best option.
Alternately, we can provide a mass deletion option so you can delete your items/pets that you don't need. like, keep your super rares but ditch everything uncom and com for the good of the site. This might work. We don't know. But it's something worth trying.
Obviously I'm hoping for other possibilities. But the future is dark for aywas if we go as we are. This is only a temporary solution, the optimizing we did, and it will eventually crack and break.
So, does anyone have alternatives?
