Holiday Lane!

Good evening, friends! I hope you have some warm clothes and a hot cup of tea or cocoa nearby, because we just received the weather report for the rest of December, and it looks like we might be snowed in for a while!
The Holiday Lane has returned for a month of enjoyment, merriment, and peppermint!
Your favorite treats have returned, along with our three main holiday items--the Snowball, Snowflake, and Candy Cane.
Snowball - r10 (Common).
Stock up on these to build a crazy snowman or arm yourself (aka, throw them at your friends! Snowball fights in good fun are something we encourage!). These will not be used in the Seasonal Shop, but they might come in handy for some raffles. *wink*
Snowflake - r30 (Uncommon).
While not very unique, since they all have the same image, these sparkling snowflakes will be used as the secondary currency in the Seasonal Shop. You will also be able to exchange them for Candy Canes.
Candy Cane - r70 (Super Rare).
Our favorite candy! These will be the main currency in the Seasonal Shop, so resist the temptation to gobble them up!
It also seems that there are some strange tracks appearing in the snow.
There are currently 20 pets for you to find in Holiday Lane, and more will be added frequently!

The Seasonal Shop is scheduled to open on December 26th and will be open for a week, while Holiday Lane will be open through the end of the month, so you have plenty of time to collect all the goodies you can eat!

*Welcome to December, the most wonderful time of the year!*

Looking for a stocking stuffer for a pet or item collector? Have a potion lover or gambler on your list?
Why, then I recommend the Essence of December 2013, now stocking in the GP Shop!
This pretty little flower will change your active pet into one of the December monthlies shown above.
The premium monthly item is a Cart of Geodes and will hopefully assist you in treating yourself or a friend!
This item regenerates once a week and will yield 3 random geodes with every use.
Our monthly Lunaris is caught in a flurrious snowstorm, but will arrive as soon as possible, and we'll make sure it gets a nice warm welcome when it lands in our world for December babies! (No worries, if your birthday has elapsed, we will ensure that you receive your starry pet!)

Our favorite Nova custom items have moved to the Premium Shop, where they will reside for the full month of December. In January and February, they will migrate back to the GP/BP Shops.

Now, here's one Lunaris that can definitely handle severe snowy skies!
Make sure to visit Santa Lunaris every day in December at the Advent Calendar to collect a free prize!
Your favorite holiday greeting cards, the Merry AyMas Card, can now be found stocking in the BP Shop! When you select the Use option on the card, the user you send it to will receive a notification that says: (Sender name and ID) thinks you are special and wished you a Merry AyMas!! Stock up on these to send to friends and strangers alike to make their day a little brighter. <3
Coding Corner!
- Our pet uploader now works, hooray! It was a bumpy ride, but we got the pets home safely. :3
- We know that the site is experiencing lag (trust us, it's super fun to try and work through). Yasu is trying out some different solutions, so we'll try and get everything up to speed as soon as we can. He's playing around with disabling some things to see what kind of an impact that has on lag, so please bear with us while we pinpoint the problem(s)!
- Behind the scenes, we'll be very busy elves this month, working to polish things up and bring you some new surprises!
- Also, if you participated in NaNoWriMo, we haven't forgotten about you! Stay tuned for a news post dedicated to your prizes this week.
The snowy, peppermint-scented holiday adventure region will be released soon! We want to make sure it's in tip-top shape before letting you hooligans in! (I say that with love and include myself in the hooligan group.)
But we have opened up a path to a very special tree in the meantime...
The Holiday Tree has returned and is ready to watch over as many presents as you can tuck under it until December 25th!
(It is also linked up under Community.)
If this is your first Aymas and this gloriously decorated tree is new to you, here's the basics! On the main tree page, at a quick glance you can see how many gifts have been sent in total by all players site-wide, as well as how many you have waiting for you. Your button options are:
Give Present - I expect you'll be hitting this one a lot, so be gentle! You don't want to wear it out. ;) Clicking this button will take you to a screen where you can choose to gift either an item or a pet. From there, you can choose a specific player or a random one, decide if you want to be anonymous or not, select your gift, and enter a message, etc. There's also a handy dandy confirmation screen built in!
Holiday Tree Tip: When gifting an item, BP or GP, make sure you always select an item and specify a quantity of 1 or greater. You wouldn't wrap up money in a box and give it to someone, would you?! If you DO try to send someone an item without specifying a quantity, you will get an error before you make it to the confirmation screen, but it will also clear anything you've put in the fields, so take your time when filling the gift form out.
Also, I would suggest NOT using HTML in messages for now. If you have a design or PSD you are gifting someone, to be safe I would just paste the raw link in until I get the green light from Yasu.
Most Needy Stockings - This is a list of users that have the least amount of goodies waiting for them. Help bump them up off of that list!
View Your Gifts - Clicking this will take you to a page that displays the wrapped gifts waiting for you to open. You will only be able to open them anytime on or after December 25th!
Gift History - This tab will enable you to review all of the presents you've sent out, which should make crossing people off of your list much easier. Now you won't have to wonder if you already left a friend a gift under the tree. :3
Remember, you can send gifts all month, but they will not be openable until December 25th. ;) No pEEking.

Rules
- The Pet Drive ends 11:59 PM December 24th
- The top donator per genus will win a 50% edited custom voucher for that genus.
- Players may win a maximum of two genera. If they win more than two, they will be asked to pick two and the remaining winning pets will be defaulted to the second place winners (and so forth).
- Players may turn in site pets or customs to the drive - it's up to the player.

Breeding Coin 24 Hour Release

The Breeding Department is happy to announce that it has twelve BC artists on staff right now. That means they can take on 120 pairings per ten days, and there are less than that in the queue right now!
That means the artists won't have anything to do after ten days! So we're re-releasing Breeding Coins and Breeding Coin packages for twenty four hours so you can grab some during the Black Friday deal and give our artists something to do :)
We're very proud to have gotten the Breeding Coin queue so low and hope you enjoy the quick turnaround.

Holiday Submissions & Pet Update

Ready to color up some magic? The 2013 Holiday Pet Submissions are now open! Pets submitted here will mainly be used for the special December adventure region as well as the holiday Seasonal Shop. The deadline to get all your wintery/holiday pets in is December 15th 11:59 PM! See the thread for rules and payout details.
It also appears that one of our hardworking elves dropped a toy into the gears of the admin panel while trying to fix something for us, resulting in a hiccup with our pet uploading system. We currently cannot upload any new pets properly (which is why that invisible Kernal on the Welcome Back page is broken), but are swiftly trying to amend the issue. As soon as this is complete, we will be able to move forward with the big December news post--including new BP/GP Shop pets and the Adventure region.
Thanks for your patience! Fingers crossed that everything gets patched up tomorrow. :3

Yena Update!
Pets
It seems that the Yena has escaped from the confines of Antiquity Staves!
Team 1337 has chosen to use their Raw Revival Genus Voucher from Scavenger Hunt on the pet they brought to life for us.
The Yena is now a Common genus and can be found in the region of...
Ara!
And is therefore now creatable with Orbs and eligible for future hybrids. :)
(I believe I updated all custom items accordingly, but please let me know if you run into one where the Yena should be available in the dropdown but isn't, or vice versa. Thanks!)

Art Gallery
Contests
The art gallery has been reset for a new week!
We did not receive any qualifying entries in the timeframe for the Aywas Love Triangles theme, so we are going to go ahead and proceed with the next one. :) (I think we'll retry that theme in February. *wink*)
The current theme is Business Cards!
This can be any medium you like and can be for any Aywas-related "business," but there's a lot of room for interpretation. You can make a card for an Adventure merchant, an NPC/shop clerk, a pet, etc.! You can even do something like Rosetta makers, geode miners, random potion brewers and so forth. Have fun with it. :3
We have also adjusted some theme dates and added new ones!
