November 11

Site Update

I've gotten a couple requests to recognize November 11 on Aywas, and I feel that Veteran's Day is something we do need to stop and think about.

Like General Tsee (#1816) said: "In Canada, Remembrance Day falls on the 11th of November every year. It's a day that is set aside as a federal statutory holiday, with the purpose of remembering the soldiers who have fought, and still fight, in wars around the world; mostly our own, but in a greater sense, as well.

Every year, we lose more of our veterans from the world wars; I can't be sure, but I think I remember reading something saying that the last Canadian vet of WWI had passed on, sometime in the last couple of years. The sad truth is that we are losing these last links to our history, and I know that in many cases, there is not as much help and support available as there maybe should be for veterans. "

She's doing a charity auction for a Reve design, with the proceeds going toward a Veteran's fund. You should check it out if you haven't already:

Aside from that, I have a couple things to do also.

If you donate to any Veteran's fund during the 2010 year, show me your receipt by emailing a forward or scan to [email protected] and I'll send you the Red Poppy item:

This item doesn't do anything, but it's a token of our remembrance.

Aside from that, for any sales that go to Aywas on the duration of November 11, I will donate 10% (minimum $1) to a Veteran's fund of Aywas' choice on the 12th. GP Purchasers who purchase GP on the 11th will also receive the poppy item as part of their funds are going toward the charity purposes.

Never forget to honor the people who fell so you could live in freedom.

Oh that's great! It is a day-off today in France, there are commemorations in all the cities in font of memorials. We are selling cornflowers for the armistice of WW1. Blue flowers not reds one ^^

It remembers me what our Field Marshal Foch said: "Parce qu'un homme sans mémoire est un homme sans vie, un peuple sans mémoire est un peuple sans avenir..." Give something like that if translated:
"Because a man without memory is a man without life, a people without memory is a people without a future..."

Thank you to all the soldiers from all over the world who kept us and keep us free!

As a past soldier, I have seen several of my companions go off to serve. Although I no longer serve, my heart and mind are with them. They are the bravest and truest heroes this world will ever know. They have gone, answering a call to arms without hesitation. They give their lives for freedom and democracy all across the world.

Slash this is a very sweet gesture and on behalf of the soldiers I know personally will benefit, Thank you.

This is lovely. <3 My great uncle served, my grandpa served.. I don't know who else, but I really love that you are doing this. I really wish I could donate to something, but I'll have to wait for a few years. Either way, thank you. <3
