Terms of Service Update

Site Update

We have updated our Terms of Service to reflect the fact that Aywas now uses AdSense to serve advertisements (section: Privacy Policy). At the moment we have one ad, which will show at the bottom of the page, but one will be added to the left side as well.

Following the recent PBC discussion, we came to a conclusion: the users understandably do not want to pay more for breeding coins, but the artists want to be paid more. As a result, we came up with a way to pay artists more without raising the price of coins--serving advertisements that help bridge that financial gap. You can read more about this discussion here.

Aywas is committed to blacklisting ads that are offensive or behave in ways that aggravate or diminish the player's experience. To report an advertisement, go to this thread in the Help forums and we will investigate the situation and block the ad if needed.

By starting our ad serving now, we'll have a half month to see how much revenue we can expect from this, and can better inform our artists what to expect in terms of ad-paid bonuses monthly.

Right down below the trademark is a good place for it, I didn't even see it until I went looking :)

disabled my addblocker, but have to leave the flashblocker on, sorry. Internet too limited for me to risk having it drain away if I leave a tab open with a flash add.

Comic Con ads for me, pffft. I'm more than willing to deal with ads on here to help support artists. Good luck! -c

This is exciting ! I'm very tempted to apply for the PBC team if the pay does go up. That was the main reason I haven't since it takes quite a bit of time to create the PSDs, and working part time here could bring in more, even though it limits how much time I would have for art. The pay being $20 per baby (or $30 for two) made me think that I'll need a part time job anyway to be able to afford anything, but that would loose time to work on the here.. xD; -Complicated ramblings-

Sounds like a plan!

This is an extremely reasonable compromise. ^_^

Ads on Aywas... my worst nightmare... -sigh- I understand why it's important for them to be there, but they are a really big problem in terms of coding that I can do without [and no, simply getting AdBlocker does not help in the slightest]. Someone in one of the previous comments said that you can't get anything just from viewing the ad image, but instead possibly clicking on it [by mistake or out of curiosity]. I make it a point not to click any ads, but yet my previous laptop caught a really bad Trojan from an ad that simply loaded because of the script the ad was using. So contrary to popular belief, you -can- catch something malicious from an ad even if you didn't click on it. Yes, ads can help bring in revenue to increase the pay for artists, coders, and staff without raising item prices. I get that. But one wrong ad loads and it's game over. I'm sorry, but the health of my laptop is more important to me - Danielle

I hate ads just as much as the next person who has ever set foot on the interwebz. However, I'm happy to see aywas listens to the concerns of its users and artists, and if ads can help solve issues and raise pays... *whitelists aywas* (A vacation in Corfu, huh... *loves Greece*)

For those who are voicing concern about malware and such: I understand these concerns all to well, but if you go read the discussion, you'll see that they've tried to go with an ad network that "eliminates common problems like: flashing ads, viruses, animated gifs that cause headaches or seizures, disgusting content, etc". Furthermore, as mentioned in this newspost, "aywas is committed to blacklisting ads that are offensive or behave in ways that aggravate or diminish the player's experience".

Of course, if you'd still rather use adblock on aywas, that's totally fine and entirely up to you. Just wanted to point out that aywas is aware of the problems ads might cause, and is trying to minimize those as much as possible. =)
