New Skill + Skill Breeding

Site Update

You may have noticed the Lockpick Skill popping up in some bred pets - this is a brand new skill that is only obtained through breeding.

"Lockpick" Skill gives your pet a 50% chance of picking the locks of treasure chests found in adventure.

A new challenge has been added to breeding - the ability to breed to pass down skills.

Most skills have a chance of passing down to offspring from parents. Each parent (of the two, items that add a "third parent" to breedings don't count) will contribute a 10% chance of passing the skill to its offspring. Note that the offspring will automatically get a hidden item skill associated with its genus.

You can read more about skill breeding here.

New skills will be added over time, and players can have fun trying to breed pets with multiple skills to see if they pass them to their offspring.

Really great new addition, even though I'm a bit sad it won't work with pendants ;3;

Awesome! Luckily my BC breeding was just assigned so hopefully I get this skill.

Clever. This is a nice extra bonus for those breeding pets (with the right type of coins). :)

Huh. *pokes it*

Does this still apply for predict bred pets? I know teos didn't, when they were dropping as bred eggs, is the thing...

Ah, crap. ALSO: does it stack with the lockpick adventure item?

I really don't care for this feature. & I'm gonna leave it at that, though I wish this was implemented any other way but breeding.

I'm sure it's been considered, but I'm interested to see how these new adventure mechanics affect our holiday adventure events, which is where lock picking and LR skill events would have the most payoff.

I wish it wasn't breeding based.

Sadly most of those coins are not cheap but i am sure i can save up premium point items and trade for the coins. And since i recently got a job maybe i will have a little spending money for the site. But i do like this idea.

This would be cool if breeding weren't prohibitively expensive for users who don't either make art or pay money to the site. But I guess we aren't your target audience.

I dislike this. I finally got one pet I want to keep as my active forever, and spent BP to get her all the skills. Now, I cannot give her all that she needs, and there is no (non-ridiculously expensive) way to do so! If bought skills were able to be moved around, that would be one thing. But I just spent nearly all the BP I had on her skills, and I do not feel like I should now have to pay for breedings until I get lockpick, then a second set of skills, then a Vial of Battle Soul, just so I can keep my special pet as my active while still getting all the skills.
