Teos in the adoption center can drop either in their actual genus, or in a random genus to offset the enormous advantage that Goggle users have in finding them. They are still dropped in both ways, but there is no telling which way any particular egg or batch will be dropped.

So, for the Teos that show up under a different genus in the Adoption Center... will they still show up as the darker color of something you haven't caught, or is there a chance under a different name they might show up in a white box, disguised like something you've already caught, so you might just scroll right past it?

The Goggles I see in user shops are only in non BP which sucks

Well, I'll keep to adopting my ultra rares from the AC instead of trying to find something that's really ... So impossible to find especially when there are zero clues on it.

Wait, are they overlaid onto existing adoption pets? Or just placed in random genuses? (should I look through hybrid/rare genuses, or just stick to ones that have pets in them?)

TL;DR You can get the teo from the adoption center or from breeding (doesn't have to be between two teo... sometimes a egg just randomly shows up).
As for the goggles, they were a monthly premium item from August 2013. They let you to filter a genus from the adoption center (so you could choose to view only Melos or only Insis). When the Teo genus came by, people could filter the Teos out and easily adopt them from the adoption center. This update makes it harder to do that.

Personally, I would have actually preferred if they were all still dropped as Teos but instead Goggles would not allow to adopt them directly from the search page. Then Goggles would still give a nice advantage (at least we'd be able to know there are any in there) but to grab one everyone would have to go through the same luck based race of digging through the whole AC. I just really miss being able to tell if it's worth refreshing the page xD
