Lesser Breeding Pendant

You might have noticed that your silver paws amount now links to the SP Shop. By Friday it should be fully functional and all contests will be awarded with SP. To celebrate the coming of the SP Shop, I'm giving away an LBP. LBPs are re-usable LBCs that allow you to breed two pets of the same species every month.

To enter this contest, please post about two pets that are mated (either both yours, or one is yours and one is a friend's) and how they met!

This will end on Wednesday at midnight.

An old fashioned fireplace

What the nutcracker didn't expect was for the the thieves to turn to arson to cover up their tracks. The nutcracker, he hadn't tried to walk before, but he did this time, and pushed Crysi's bauble under an old mug.

Stay under there! He commanded. He sat on top of the mug and grit his teeth shut.

The nutcracker, being wood, did not make much noise as he quickly disintegrated. His last thought hoped for Crysi's safety.

Vreth (102556) had always been somewhat of a loner, except during his strange practice of curling beneath children's beds and playing 'monster-under-the-bed.' This is, actually, is how he met the love of his life, Jocelyn (100473).

During a snowstorm she was found by a child and allowed into the families' home due to her sweet nature (never mind her pitiful shivering and the soft prrrllling noises she kept emitting). The families' child -- a twelve-year-old girl -- had begged her parents to be able to take the sweet Watermelon Vyne indoors to warm up. They had agreed, but only if she slept in a box in the garage. Give me an old fashioned fireplace

It was hot, so hot. This was different then the warmth of the of the fireplace she lay over. She felt a tension deep in her self, and under the pressure of heat, the air cracked her bauble, the glass exploding, smashing against the bowl.

Crysi, her spirit self detached, curled up in the browning gold, praying for it to end.

And as the smoke swirled around her, she calmed, and fall asleep.

The little girl agreed hesitantly, but she had other plans. After all, the garage wasn't much warmer than outside, and the Vyne looked so very, very pitiful. So that night she and her parents made a soft nest of blankets for the female Vyne in a box in the garage. Jocelyn settled down, shivering and watching them with big eyes.

Thirty minutes after her parents had fallen asleep (she could tell by their raucous snoring) the child snuck out of her bedroom and off to the garage. Jocelyn lifted her head curiously, antenna curling with interest at her return. The little girl held a finger up to her mouth: "Shhhhhhh." (cont.)

Jocelyn was silent as the child followed her quietly through the house, attentive to every click or clack that Jocelyn's little claws made on the hardwood. She held her breath until they were in the safety of her carpeted bedroom.

At the very beginning Jocelyn slept curled up at the end of the little girl's bed, but about half-way through the night she felt a tickling at the underside of her foot. She tilted her large maw down, peering beneath the bed. She was startled to see another Vyne laying there -- unbeknownst to the child and her family -- and peering at her with glowing amethyst eyes.

Pt. 11

My heart remembers smoldering embers

She dreamed of the fireplace, glistening off her ornament, and the family that had taken care of her over the years.

She dreamed of the smiles of the baby, the girl, the woman.

The smell of the hams, turkeys, the sweet potatoes. The presents, the glitter, the ribbons.

She missed Christmas.

Vreth was just as startled to see that the creature he'd been tickling was not a child but another Vyne, and he skittered back against the wall in confusion. Jocelyn, on the other hand, was simply curious. She lowered herself gently from the girl's bed and sat at the edge of Under The Bed, snuffling at him and making soft noises to show that she meant no harm.

By the early morning the two of them had formed quite a bond. They found that they thought much the same way, and before the little gir woke up, before the parents even began to stir, the two Vynes had slipped out of the little girl's window and back out into the snow.

Jocelyn found that with Vreth's help -- and his extra heat -- it was easy to survive the long winter comfortably... and the longer they spent together the more compatible they found themselves to be. When Vreth went to play 'monster-under-the-bed' Jocelyn would come with him, and they would chortle with glee as they slipped out the window, listening to the child crying for mommy and / or daddy: "THERE'S A MONSTER IN MY ROOM!"

It was only natural that they began to think of one another as mates after a while. Unfortunately, they have not yet been able to conceive,. a fact that breaks Jocelyn's heart. Though he isn't as interested in kits as she is, it breaks Vreth's heart to see her so down... So every night they take time to touch noses and wish very, very hard for a baby of their own.

Warmly your glow

When she awoke.. she realized she was cold. There was snow around her, and lots of burnt out furniture. The smell of trash in the distances made note of the dumpster. The buildings were tall, metal and stone, and she felt terribly lost.

She had never been outside the antique mall her whole time staying there. The owner of the antique mall was just getting read to leave. He lifted the broken pottery off of her.

"Just another piece of burnt up junk," he commented. "Lets get out of here and cut our losses."

I'd trade that whole Manhattan skyline

The night was lonely and long. If Crysi could cry, she would have. But as the moon descended, there was a single flash of moment where the stars were the brightest thing in the sky. It seemed that all the lights in the city blanked out and the heavens bared itself.

A feeling struck her, a warming long feeling, like the sensation of open arms. And she realized what this lost feeling she had was. It was love. A spirit of the stars came down from the sky in that moment. In in a split second, that felt like forever, she knew it like it was always known to her.
