Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!

Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?

The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.

Ooh, but wait! There's more!

Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).

Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!

Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!

Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!

Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!

Just smell those new pages!

My favorite book?

Well.. okay it's hard answering that xD I love A Series of Unfortunate Events, for one. Yes, it's a children's series; but it's got very interesting characters, a great setting, and Lemony Snicket's narration style is fantastic. Plus, it's got a soundtrack! :D Look up 'The Gothic Archies' on Youtube, they did a song for every book.

I'm also very fond of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. If you even had a passing interest in the show, /get the series first/, there is SO much they have to cut out, which is quite a shame. I've been brought to tears at least once (often twice) a book, the humor is great, just about every character is three-dimensional and very well thought out; you'll be getting attached to even minor characters before too long.

But my favorite /individual/ book probably has to be Dune. It's a fantastic story, and probably has the only method of someone seeing the future I actually enjoy and doesn't seem like a plot ticket, the setting is gorgeous, awesome characters... and it's just got a very special place in my heart; since the book was the first gift I ever received from my best friend of nearly ten years <3

This Book represents So much accomplishment in my Life & i still have the very first Copy of this book To this Day It is still the only book i have ever been able to Read & Finish. Also My Very first Dog Was Named After this Book Though sadly in 2001 he died The book is a Reminder of the Love & special meaning to my very First dog. He was an Aussie shep/german shep Wolfdog & Because he was my First dog & a Wolfdog I choose Kazan as His name.

Ender's Game. Try to read the book in a way that does't support the author, though; I hate to say that, but he uses his position as a popular author to support anti-gay causes. His books are really awesome, though. -Feeshy

Thr3e by Ted Dekkar.
Ted writes about a man suffering from dissociative identity disorder and he plays it to a very realistic, sympathetic and compelling extent. I can't say much without giving away the plot, but it's very thought-provoking.

My favorite book, especially considering the holiday, has to be one called Fly by Night by Frances Hardinge. Its an interesting read, set in a world where all books have been banned, and its main character has a pet goose.

My favorite book is Watership Down by Richard Adams. I absolutely fell in love with the entire world the author had set up. Even if it sounded silly about rabbits, it was neat to see everything from their point of view that wasn't 'personified'. They had their own language, thoughts, beliefs, mythology, society... it was just really awesome and it has remained my favorite book ever since I was a little child.

Just one? How could I possibly pick just ONE favorite book? XD That's nearly impossible to do. There are so many series I absolutely love!

I hope it's alright for me to recommend more than one series. Rather than hoping for the crystal set, I want to share some good series. :D

If you don't mind books aimed at younger readers, the Guardians of Childhood and Ranger's Apprentice are excellent. I read through those books so fast whenever I get a new one! Both have a nice fantasy element to them, though RA isn't quite magic and dragons type fantasy, but more toned down.

And as for adult reads, Nightrunner has been a favorite recently. The first one starts with Luck in the Shadows. Then there's Crimson Wind, first in the Horngate Witch series, Mooncalled, first in the Mercy Thompson series, and Dhampir, first in the Noble Dead series. The middle two are both urban fantasies, and Nightrunner and Dhampir are a bit closer to traditional fantasy stories.

Gosh, I could go on about these series as well as quite a few others I absolutely love, but I'm afraid I've already gotten a bit carried away. x3
