Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!

Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?

The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.

Ooh, but wait! There's more!

Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).

Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!

Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!

Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!

Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!

Just smell those new pages!

Redwall by Brian Jacques. It's my favorite because of the action as well as the background story within, (not to mention some great riddles used that the characters have to figure out). I learned of it and the rest of the series because of an animated series that was shown on PBS and have read nearly every book in the series now, but Redwall was the first one I read and was the first book the animated series was based around so it'll always have a special place for me.

@ Porcelain: I EFFING LOVE YOU YES!!! About to suggest those myself!! Artemis Fowl is actually a really good series, despite it being aimed at kids. I bought one of them for my wife as an xmas pressie when we got together. But my favourite personally? Regeneration by Pat Barker. Read it in college and liked it very muchly. - L

Awesome, thank you!

Hmmmmm, fave book series. That's a bit of a tough one, actually.

If you're one for fantasy, check out the Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind [First book is Wizard's First Rule].

Or you could check out the Women of the Otherwold series by Kelley Armstrong.

If you're more for crime, The In Death Series is fucking amazing, and wickedly long too.

Or, my current addiction, the Alice in Deadland series or the GRimm Diary Prequels. Both I found on Amazon.ca for the kindle app on my phone XD No idea if you can get physical copies of them.

Right now I'd have to say John Dies at the End by David Wong is one of my favorites in part because the dialogue between the two main characters is just awesome and goofy. I'm a sucker for good if not odd dialogue that feels natural between characters, which this book nailed dead on.

Spice and Wolf novel series is totally my favourite series of books by far. Think an economics textbook with pagan legends, a wolf harvest goddess and a travelling merchant, with lots of high stake scenes and fantastic dialogue. It's everything I ever wanted in a novel rofl.

cloudy with a chance of meatballs, has to be my favorite book. The combination of whimsical ideas combined with the gorgeous art work over all made a very large impact on me as a child. Here I am twenty years later recalling it and still enjoying the thought of food falling from the sky. The author even wrote a squeal that sufficiently answered all my questions about what happened to that land in the first book.

:) I just really like it

Ishmael by Daniel Quinn is a great book that both my sister and I read for our Rhetoric class and adored. It introduces a new way of thinking and is a very enjoyable read!

My favorite book is "Messenger" by Lois Lowry because I love speculative fictions and it was just such an amazing bittersweet ending to the Giver Trilogy. There was something so magical about the mixture of science fiction and fantasy and Lowry is just so amazingly skilled at pulling the readers emotional strings. It was beautiful and tragic and no book has been able to beat it since I first read it when I was 13.
