Snake Solis

Pets

It's the 5th anniversary of Steve Irwin's death. It's strange how it's already been five years since he died... I still watch his show on Animal Planet, and he had always shown reptiles in a positive light, something we still need more of in the media.

In his memory I released some more snake-related Solis into Explore:

Did Steve Irwin inspire you?

Steve was one of my Childhood Heros. He's the only reason I'm not afraid of snakes anymore.

I used to watch his show all the time. I can't believe it's been five years since his death already.

I've always loved snakes, and I thought his show was really cool, even more so when I got to see crocodiles. X3

He was basically a part of my childhood - my favorite thing to watch growing up.
He's probably the reason I'm such an animal lover now - watching his show when I was little made a huge impact.

Aww how sweet. Steve will definitely forever be missed. Iggy agrees. I cannot believe it's been 5 years.

I hate snakes, the scare me to death and have done so my whole life. After watching his show it was hard to see them as demons. They were and are amazing animals that can do amazing things and truly are beautiful. Through his show I learned look be for I judge and always be ready for "danger, danger danger"

It hasn't been five years!!! I still remember how excited i got when it showed a commercial for a new episode. I've always wanted a pet snake, but my parent won't let me. He is like my role model :(

He did more than simply inspire me, he is the reason why I am going to school for what I am going for. I grew up on his show. As a kid I said screw the saturday cartoons, and watched the Crocodile Hunter. It is so hard to think that its been 5 whole years since he passed. I still watch his show when its on, which is still rare, and when I finally get to work in a Zoo, I will think of him. He was and is my role model, and yes, I do plan on finding a rattlesnake, and grabbing it behind its head. Might get bit, but my moms a nurse :D

I'm not sure that I'd say he inspired me but I really enjoyed him a lot. I loved learning about the different animals and he was by far my favorite person to teach me (on animal planet). I've actually not watched animal planet so religiously since his untimely passing. I do miss him, from everything I've read he really contributed a lot to the animal world and it was terribly sad that he passed. By all the things that could have taken him out it was a stingray too. An animal that I like and never really considered life threatening.
