Actually, that was most certainly the plan. There was a little hiccup with the calendar for today, but rest assured the prizes will begin appearing tomorrow once again, and we'll do an extra item in November to make up for today. :3

HBC Breedings: Predicts, Painted Bottles

Given the previous HBC change, we have encountered a small problem. There are tons of HBC breedings in queue with user predictions, and we can't easily tell which are waiting for site babies and which wanted a predict-only breeding.
As such, we've made a spiffy little thread.
If you have a predict-only HBC breeding that is ready to be reviewed, please follow the instructions in that thread and post so we know to look it over!
And while on the topic of HBCs...
*drum roll*
I bet you guys can guess what we're going to say here!
That's right, we're making Painted Bottles HBC compatible! :D
However if you use a Painted Bottle on a HBC breeding, you must attach both .PSDs for the parents to the breeding. If you do not attach both .PSD files, your breeding will be refunded.

Fox Pen

No tricks this time, only treats!
The Fox Pen allows you to add an additional 10% edits to a Faux custom. It can only be used once on a custom, and it's a great way to make your custom a little more unique from the rest of the ones in the set it came from.
It stocks in the BP Shop for 3,000,000 BP. Be sure to check out the Knowledge Base before use!

Something spoopy is in the water!

"Aren't you bored with that silly little Pumpkin Patch that Rowan has been obnoxiously flying around yet?" Minerva paused, flicking her tail in a twinge of what might've been a rare fleck of jealousy. "Speaking of boredom, I was a little tired of conjuring up trees and dirt paths and thought you all might enjoy a little change of scenery." Her ominous laughter seemed to suggest that she recognized how comfortable the pets had become in the forest, and she was only comfortable when others were on edge.
Turning toward the shadows with a wink, Minerva waved a single gloved hand in the air, beckoning her troops of Griffins to emerge before disappearing in a spiral of darkness herself. With red eyes piercing, the feathered beasts took to the skies, leaving behind a trail of feathers that led to an eerily quiet beach...
Introducing the Haunted Lake!
You might be puzzling to yourself, wondering why a supposedly spooky area has a cartoon feel. I'd be happy to answer that. :3
In October, as each week passes, the intensity of the season's magic grows with the opening of more features.
Wouldn't it be cool if we could "see" evidence of the magic taking hold?
That's where the Haunted Lake background comes in! Through a series of background art contests, we are giving you the opportunity to illustrate this magic phenomenon.
Essentially, each week a new background image will be uploaded--with more detail and perhaps even different features from the last--though the essence of the Haunted Lake (beach, water, sky) will remain. If this intrigues you, please consider entering!

You will find 20 pets--including the 6 above--in your Haunted Lake travels, but rest assured that we will be adding many, many more!
Note: I have gotten a few requests for extensions on Halloween pet submissions, so keep an eye out for a new thread for all you stragglers. ;) I'm not quite done accepting pets from the initial thread, but I will let you know as soon as I finish.
The pumpkins that we all have such a strong love/hate relationship with have returned!
Both pumpkins can be found in the Haunted Lake area, but you know we can't make them too terribly easy to amass.
If this is your first October on Aywas, you're probably wondering why these two pumpkins elicit such strong emotions from us, and why anyone would want a large hoard of them, right? Let me explain:
The above items (Melo Pumpkin and Halloween Pumpkin) will be used as exchange currency in our Seasonal Shop that will open at the end of the month.
When the shop doors open, you will find some items priced in Melo Pumpkins, but most will be priced in Halloween Pumpkins. However, we do offer an exchange option so that you can trade in your MPs for HPs (example: 5 Melo Pumpkins = 1 Halloween Pumpkin). The official trade-in rate has not yet been decided.
You will also encounter 10 collectable items during your stay on the beach, including the 4 above.
Hold onto these, for they are more than holiday souvenirs. Not only will we be opening up a special Museum Collection for them when our curator is ready, but they will also come in handy later in the month as the magic intensifies!
Have fun out there, and be careful when talking to strangers!
(As a new area, the Haunted Lake has a few quirks that we're working out, including a silly trivia bug. Things should smooth out in the next few days. <3)

The seasons are changing and so are many other things... as leaves flutter by, some new Jeweled Bases have shown up, drawn by runeowl.

Do you like rolling the dice? Well, how about some pumpkin dice? This new premium item is a combination themed BC addon and a Hybrid Genetics Kit.
It allows you to select one regular hybrid result for your breeding, then themes your breeding after Halloween/horror. You can specify one theme to avoid in your comments.
Do you like the combination of a theme + genetics kit? There may be more dice in the future that save precious add-on slots for your other wishes!
Fancy some fun randomizing the amount of edits you get in your breeding? Trick or Treat, right? You could get a trick... or a treat.

The Faux and the Scarl have their own hybrid now, called the Alidae. Similar to the Emaia, Alidae Eggs result in a base 50% edits in their breeding, and you can find the Alidae Egg in the Bonus Credit for this week, and you can also find it in the USD Shop for $50.00.

The Faux Box is pushing over 2000 designs now, so the Fox Net has been temporarily discounted down to $5.00. This discount will end on October 11th, at 11:59 PM. Let's get those foxies a home!
Ready for a last bit of fun? This new breeding add-on has been designed by your new breeding administrators, Kyu and Mauri, called the Genus in a Bottle.
This add-on allows you to pick any common, uncommon, raw, token, trinket, or hybrid genus for each baby of your BC breeding. This item works the same for HBC breedings, except that hybrid genera cannot be selected for HBC breedings. All BC and HBC breedings have a special chance at a rare offspring species though! Check the Genus in a Bottle Knowledge Base article for more information BEFORE using this add-on.
It stocks in the USD Shop for $15.
