Site Update

magic_alidaeegg.pngmagic_transitionalfossilegg.png

Hello everyone, I hope you've been having a fantastic January so far!

I'm here to announce a small change to Alidae Egg and Transitional Fossil Egg predictions.

Previously, users could submit a prediction and the artist of the prediction could be paid a set amount of USD through the site. Unfortunately, due to the amount of these items in circulation, and the amount of ways to obtain them, this unfortunately isn't a sustainable option for the site any longer.

We have removed the site-paid USD for Alidae Egg and Transitional Fossil Egg predictions. In place of that, we are allowing Alidae Egg and Transitional Fossil Egg predictions to be commissioned with no GP or USD cap from here on out.

Artists can also opt to receive a payment of 60 Credit for a TFE or Alidae prediction, this has been added to the Knowledge Base Article for those items.

We realize that this is likely not going to be a popular decision, but after looking at site finances and the amounts of these items in circulation it is not a financially viable option for us at this time.

Please stay tuned for the Seasonal Shop opening later today!

Genuine question:
Since my understanding at least was that the pay this way was slightly less, how does this not cost the site more in the long run? Doesn't the site still have to pay for the ones in the queue, so if people no longer provide or want to pay that much extra for predicts won't the site have to pay for the large number in circulation anyway?

This is not retroactive for breedings in queue, is it? :/

Instead of a blanket removal, is there any chance it could be considered to pay out artist credit so that it wouldn't affect usd/gp directly at all?

There are GP paid artists for TFE and Alidae queues, so it will not end up costing more USD in the long run. We can also gauge how many breedings we assigned based on how much USD we have set aside for breeding, when with predictions it is unpredictable when and how many will be submitted.

No, it is not retroactive.

That is a good suggestion, I will edit my news post and the TFE/Alidae KB articles to allow a payment of 60 Credits per Alidae/TFE prediction if the artist would like to opt for that instead of a user paying GP or USD :)

Kita (#3988) Sorry, I forgot to ping you so I'll have to ask again. Is this retroactive for breedings already in queue? And what about those that were immune from the previous downgrade, submitted before february 12, 2017? And isn't it possible to just further downgrade the pay instead of full deletion of it? Or having it be forced to be paid out in phases? Anything but this! D:

Awesome thank you ^^ Was hoping there might be some sort of middle ground, it was really nice to have an item that users could get predicts done without having to front the cost entirely.

Oh, since it's kinda sudden Kita, would it be at all possible to get a 24 hour grace period? I commissioned someone off-site for a predict that just completed and I'd hate to not be able to get that kickback for them. I'd have to work out something else then

I second a 24 hour grace period. It seems strange to have something come in so suddenly - I have a couple, both for myself and others, that are finished and were meant to be uploaded today, just didnt have time to do so.
