Time to Vote!

Site Update

It's time to vote! Voting is important this year, isn't it? ;)

We have six genuses from you to choose from. Please select TWO bases that you would like to vote for. The top voted base, as described before, will be the new "Faux in the Box" feature pet! It will have its own box. The second place pet will be added as a trinket species!

So get voting, and in forty-eight hours (or less, probably, but we'll have the poll open that long) we'll know who the winners are! And the rest you can expect as future Raw Crystal pets... or something.

For those of you upset about the Paintbrushes leaving because you do not have PayPal accounts, you will still be able to commission artists through the Commissions panel. We have an "Escrow" add-on feature coming to the panel that facilitates a three way trade between an artist, a commissioner with USD, and a buyer with GP or items that protects all three individuals in the trade.

It's a complicated feature to describe and engineer, and it won't be out until an estimated late March or early April, but it should solve the problems of not being able to send PayPal money.

I love snakes, but I feel like I'd like to see it as a trinket pet instead... I just think all the lines of the scales (on the face in particular) kind of limit its edit potential a bit, and the faux box feature is a veeery edit focused feature. The rest of the scales would be easier to edit out if needed, but also, all the detail on the face looks a little maybe overly detailed for the cute, simple style it's otherwise drawn in. I kind of hope that gets converted into shading instead of lineart, I think that would be better.

I just think a faux box like pet should be particularly edit friendly!

Other than that, I really love allll of these I think more than I've liked a lot of recent pets. I can't wait to see them when they become implemented, however they become implemented. I think I have a raw crystal somewhere that I am sure I will be saving to use on one of these!

How do you think those people were getting paintbrushes? They bought/traded them off other users with gp or items that they probably got from previous trades, or artist pay (keep in mind some artist positions only pay gp!).
The only difference is that now instead of having a paintbrush item in your inventory (that still needed that middle man for buying a paintbrush), there's a trade system with three parties at the same time, while not screwing over the site. If you prefer not to use it, that's completely fine, but I think there will be more than a handful of people who are going to be very happy this option exists :)

In all my time on aywas, I only did 2 or 3 metal designs, ever, and I still managed to get myself nice items and a lair full of custom. I have an LBP and RBP for example, through making a lot of money from adventure in little bits and trading that for gp from which I bought my LBP, and by winning silver paws in the games through which I bought my RBP. There's possibilities enough, but it requires work, hours of adventuring, or smart trading tactics, and a bunch of luck, but most of all it requires dedication and patience. Maybe try trading offsite stuff for stuff on here? I know I've got a good sum of gp for selling things from Flight Rising I didn't need/want anymore. You've still got to invest time in that though.
You also give off a vibe that artist have it a lot better, but seem to forget how many hours were put into practicing to get at the level where they are. If you want something, you'll have to work for it in some way, you're not just going to get stuff handed to you, or get it cheaply... I think when it comes down to it, these artists have probably spent about the same amount of time practicing to be a good enough artist as I did adventuring, playing games and gathering resources on other sites to trade to get what I wanted. If you really want it, you can do it! :)

Murkrow NyctiCorax (#1965) This! <333
Sometimes people get all up in arms about how artist centric the site it, and yeah, I agree, it is artist centric. But If the centric was on non artists, the site wouldnt have as much customization as it does, and we wouldnt have the things that make aywas, aywas! Its all thanks to the amazing artists we have here on site <3

Where theres a will, theres a way. You can do anything on this site, if you give it your best shot. :3 No one on this site, gets anything for free. Artists have spent years improving and possibly dedicating huge chunks of time and effort into their abilitys. People spend so much time adventuring for BP, or winning contests etc. Equal effort is being put in, but I can see how a non artist would see it otherwise.

Yes exactly! I love the art and abilities for customization on here, so I'm actually very happy it is so focused on art and encouraging people to start doing art or improving their skills. I admit it easy to forget about the amount of time that goes into doing art and simply practicing if all I see is the product being made in a couple of hours.
Doing art just not my thing though, and that's fine, but then you just have to accept that you're going to have to work in other ways to get things if you want something :) The only thing that I want that is not going to happen anytime soon is that purple title x'D But I've accepted the fact I might never get that, that's a choice I made by choosing to spend my time on adventure, games and cross-site trading instead of trying art :P

71991: I don't buy GP and I have 18 rn. You can find things that sell, even if it's just 1 GP, it adds up. Try to be active during times when the fields are open (Easter is a great example that is close!) You can sometimes get a pretty good item from these events that sell for GP, or even you could find GP. It's completely fair and random. I've been here since the beginning and guess how many customs I've drawn up myself? ZERO. XD Cause I fail at art. lmao

Looking over comment about the snake, i'm kind of seeing the point in how it is kind of limited it what you can do with it edits wise. Noodle bodies can be hard to work with!

The roo(who's currently coming second as i post this) would appear to have a greater range of possibilities compared to the snake.

I'm agreeing with the suggestion that a secondary vote be held to see wich one goes where, if you can only vote once, i wonder if the results will be different
