LGBT Event - Artists Needed!

Site Update

An LGBT event is in the works! It's scheduled for next year but we hope to make it the biggest LGBT event we've had onsite so far, so we're getting started early. If you would like to contribute, please check out these threads:

LGBT HA Items
LGBT Pet Designs
LGBT Items

Pet artists or HA artists interested in taking on site pet lists for the event outside of these threads, feel free to contact me with your offer. Depending on how many people participate in making content, we might be able to get the event rolling for June Pride Month instead of next year. It's up to YOU!

The third dragon looks like aromantic to me. Fantastic!

I really want to contribute some nonbinary/genderfluid/genderqueer and pansexual stuff to this, as well as other things... I really hope that pansexual and bisexual are separated because they suffer heavily from erasure in these types of discussions and they are not the same thing - and as someone who falls outside of the gender binary, it's really important for me to have pansexuality recognized because there are definitely people who are not romantically or sexually interested in me for not falling within the gender binary, hahah.

Fannish (FreeFlier) (#1818) - Ahh, understood. Just being right after our posts I was like whoaaa what. The clarification there helps; sorry you're getting so bombarded with PMs.

thym★cerpin (#162) Ohhh yeah, I so hear that!
My goal is to seperrate them, and eventually end up with 16 user made sets and 2 site made sets- but till I can get enough to fill the core we have listed, I can't put those other groups up. The contests have been open for WEEKS now, with no entries, so I'm totally happy to take other entries- but not listing them as main goals for the moment?

If that makes any sense?

Vespertine (#1516) no worries. I also have derp moments and mood swings from hockeysticks sometimes, it's why I try to vet posts with friends before making them for business/official posts on a business blog we run together.

My personal posts tend to get ranty and fluctuate wildly. Which, sometimes leads to foot in mouth on my part, or hurt feelings all around. THus- I fianlly phrased it right, so putting it up as the final word and then just telling folks to read it on the various FAQs I just updated.

Fannish (FreeFlier) (#1818) Yeah, I understand. I haven't made HA stuff in a loooong time but I want to try and help with this if it means being able to be as inclusive as possible!

I'm glad the role of ally is being supported, though I'm confused about the whole privately commissioned thing. As if trolls were an issue I'd be affraid of some sort of item or pet that spreads a stereotype would be made by a troll rather than a ally item (sands maybe a kkk-esque pro straight flag because I don't think such a flag *really* exist // nor is it needed, I agree, and I'm cis/straight! But whatever. It just is a tad disappointing that it is all open to public entries except for that ... unless I read it wrong. maybe I read it wrong. I know I read something wrong at first and was like WUT but it was cleared up later XD

I was just kinda thinking that ally stuff short be about supporting the lgtb cause and being a good fran to the lgtb community than anything. For example, I feel an ally holding an I support allies flags would be not what the role is about and tooting ones own horn. It really shouldn't be wanted that badly in my opinion. Not if thought of in that kinda of support way... let me explain^^;

like a flag shouldn't be some random color combo that means ally or some unique symbol,, but something like a heart patched together with all the different lgtb flags or something.

I think support for allies would have to be something from a lgtb user - nothing big or anything - maybe a collectible item like the "I love your art" sticker but for lgtb users to give to their non lgtb friends who have show exemplary support for the lgtb cause (and to them as a friend c: ). That is all us allies would like. Making friends and being appreciated occasionally and getting some damn change to come along in society is what we want.. But maybe that is just me. I prefer to be a friend doing what friends should do. or even what a fellow human should be like to a fellow human.. rather than, say, some sort of token straight person in the movement. That is an awkward type of role lol as our straight and or cis-ness should not even have to be mentioned or known. I mean when I got with friends to events - mixed straight and lgtb.. we straight don't walk around screaming look at us we are straight. because it matters that straight people think gay rights matter. Yes, that may actually matter in the end. But I think it should matter because simply gay rights DO matter. Not just because the straight people also think so..which is something that people dissociated with the movement might think - dissenters/straight/cis bystanders/idk... so I always felt the ally role as something a little subtle and ..under the ropes.. there is a saying I'm thinking of that is on the tip of the tongue but dangit I don't remember it atm XD;

and I think a vice versa collectible item would also be need then of course~! for non lgtb people to give their lgtb friends to show them they support them. c:

I would whip up visuals but I only have a mouse and photoshop right now.. can't do lineart worth poop with a mouse.. everything turns into picasso. like noses don't go there. .. .or omg that line was supposed to be a lot further down and lot less wiggly... stuff like that. D:

so that is my two cents. if that is considered two cents. Maybe I'll call it my drabble instead that I just couldn't keep bottled inside XD (I don't think I said anything offensive or "bad" right ? I went over it like twice to make sure... /paranoid now for reasons ;_; )

Tequila Mockingbird (#64472)
I have seen the Ally issue devolve into a Straight Pride (Yes, there IS actually a ""Flag"" made for it, and people claim to have been "Persecuted" for being straight, and insist that "Straight Pride" needs to be in Pride Parades. I am NOT joking, at all.) and it ALWAYS turns ugly.

ALWAYS.

Both sides only get worse, and once it starts, it poisons everything.

To prevent this, I am flat removing the chance for that. Completely.

I'd be happy to take your Ally item suggestions to my friend that's making the items, some of them are really cute! (I adore the patchwork heart! That is so cute!) and trust me, in a perfect world, I'd have loved to open Ally up as well.

But as is shown by the "Offended by this event" comment, and the 18 separate requests for Straight pride that I have received on tumblr, FR and have been hinted at twice in this very thread, (And one reaaaallly well meaning user in PMs who is really trying to learn and I appreciate!) I am 95% sure that this would have devolved into a Drama Rising level Sh*t Storm.

I'm trying my best to make this a fun event for everyone, but to make it a SAFE event, I have to ensure that none of this "Straight Pride" or "Cis Pride" or "Toxic Allies!" junk starts up. So, removing that as an option...

Also, yes, I have actually seen the "I <3 Allies" stickers that someone made for ALLIES to use, and it was, *tries to find good words* not very ironic.

wow @ some of the comments in this news post. if anyone is really jealous that lbgtq+ """get to have pride""" and """"be recognized""" then please take all the problems and danger and stress and fear that come with it too.

no one needs ''straight/cis pride'' crap just like no one needs "white pride" crap--every day already IS white/straight/cis pride day in most developed countries.
