LGBT Event - Artists Needed!

Site Update

An LGBT event is in the works! It's scheduled for next year but we hope to make it the biggest LGBT event we've had onsite so far, so we're getting started early. If you would like to contribute, please check out these threads:

LGBT HA Items
LGBT Pet Designs
LGBT Items

Pet artists or HA artists interested in taking on site pet lists for the event outside of these threads, feel free to contact me with your offer. Depending on how many people participate in making content, we might be able to get the event rolling for June Pride Month instead of next year. It's up to YOU!

Phantom Butterfly (#14055) in what way? I am confused by the idea that an event to embrace our differences and what makes up a core part of many's identities, and raising awareness and decreasing the isolation and othering of Queer and non-cis het standardized persons and relationships could in any way be a bad thing?

Please explain it to me, as I am quite curious? :)

Sorry to sound nooby, but what is this event? I know it is about our sexuality, but can it be more in depth? Thank you!

Fannish (FreeFlier) (#1818) because there may possibly be users that could find the whole idea behind the event upsetting or offensive even. Surely we have to think of everyone not just non "cis"/hetero users.

Phantom Butterfly (#14055) If you are suggesting straight pride be included, I am sorry, I can not and will never include that.

I DO plan to include allies in the conversation and event, but have personally commissioned a friend to do those items to avoid any- trolling from bigots, bad allies, or Warriors with hearts in the right places but doing it the wrong way.

This event is necessary.

PRIDE is necessary, because no one talks about it here but the simple fact is that teens in the LBGTQ+ population have an INCREDIBLY high mortality rate.

As in, being killed, neglected, abused, ridiculed, othered and isolated etc, to the point of actual DEATH.

When I was a child, finding out that I was born, intersexed, was so horrifying, and so freakish, that I blamed myself for every single incident of abuse I suffered. That my freakish body must be why. That I was not right, and that my rare freakishness was to be hidden at all costs.

I was told by actual PHD doctors, that it was better to never tell anyone that I was anything except female, as "That's what the surgery you had as a newborn was for! It's so rare, that no one would really understand."

Intersexed people make up .2% of the human population. That is one in 500 people.

I am not that rare. In fact, I am the opposite of that rare.

But I literally ONLY learned that fact 2. Flipping. Years. Ago. I went 21 years thinking I was a freak, and that that secret, that I was born different, would lead to being outcast, othered, make partners uncomfortable if I told them.

(It did and has, and to this DAY I do not feel comfortable telling my personal family friends that I am intersexed, because I have found it easier and healthier for my own physical and mental wellbeing to just ID as Cis Female Bisexual rather than deal with potentially being beaten or being broken up with or having to deal with the constant comments and digs. I CAN pass as CIS so heck yes, it is WEAK of me to do it, but I do it, and thank whatever powers had me self ID as female to not have to fight what was manually assigned at birth for me.)

So, no, any Cis Het person that finds this event offensive can please please please try to use this event to educate themselves.

Become a better Ally.

Grow as a person.

Or please, let me know to block you, because I can not do that kind of negativity and bigotry in my safe space.

Thank You

Alright, I feel the need to put in my two cents on this.

First, it's awesome that the site is doing another event like this. Seriously, how many other sites are willing to do this?

But, yes there's a but, don’t exclude a gender/orientation alignment simply because it's the more predominant. I understand why you wouldn't want to, truly. But people seem to forget that kids can and do play on this site as well. By not including cis anything you're failing to encourage those who are 'lucky enough' to fit the current standard of normal. We want them to grow up informed and have a positive view on things such as this. We don't want them to become so alienated that they tear down any non cis they encounter. So please, include our cis friends and show that we appreciate them for their support.
