Site Update

Today has been declared Help-a-Pet Day!
Brought to you by Chianya (#12264) and the power of a Slashbot.

This time of year can be especially rough for animals, particularly in areas experiencing harsh winter climates.
Many animals find themselves as unwanted pets from the holidays, are strays seeking warmth and food, or are in a shelter overrun with other pets looking for a forever home. Therefore, Chianya is bringing a week-long event to Aywas in order to help spotlight the cause and support animals in need!

Donation Drive
Aywas is sponsoring a donation drive to help the efforts of organizations that rescue and care for any and all animals. As a thank you for your generosity to an animal-focused shelter/charity of your choice, we have set up the following tiers according to Chianya's specifications:

The Pawprint Dog Bed is a custom creator that will enable you to upload your very own Shelter Dog silver pet with up to 30% edits. Click the image to download the PSD.
As this pet is a donation reward, these lines cannot be created with SCCs, Silver Potions, etc.

* Donation tiers are listed in USD amounts, but you may donate in another currency as long as it is at least the USD equivalent amount.

How to Donate
1. Choose a shelter or animal charity of your choice. Any organization that helps, cares for, or rescues animals from cats and dogs to exotic pets and even wildlife is acceptable. We are very flexible on this!

2. Check to see if the organization has a minimum donation amount.

3. Donate the amount of your choice.

4. Send a receipt or proof of donation to me at [email protected]. Please include your ID number and ensure I can see the amount and organization, but feel free to block out any personal details. A screenshot of your webpage receipt or forwarding me the receipt the shelter/charity e-mails you would suffice!

5. Receive your rewards! :3

If you currently volunteer at a shelter/animal charity:
Aywas would like to extend our gratitude to you by offering you the full set of rewards above.
Simply email me at [email protected] with some sort of proof of your volunteer status and I'll get you taken care of! c: Please be sure to include your ID.

If you are not in a position to donate but still want to show your support for the cause, we have filled the BP Shop with animal-related goodies!

You will find 11 pets to collect (including the Kodama and the three pets above), along with some HA wearables.

Each box of the six above contains one corresponding shirt that says "I <3 Dogs," "I <3 Cats," "I <3 Animals," etc. and each is a different color and style. You can see how all of them look through the Preview Wardrobe option!

We also have four "wearable" accessories that fit in the bottom right corner of your HA box to add some scenery! You can also check these out with the Preview Wardrobe option.

The drive will be running until January 25th at 11:59 p.m., so all donations need to be made by this time, as well as all goodies snagged from the shop!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself or Chianya (#12264).

We would also love to hear about your shelter/animal charity experiences, and if you have a suggestion for one to support, you are welcome to share it in the comments below.

As a site full of animal lovers, Aywas is very excited to be able to host a drive like this. <3
Thank you for your support!

I have a friend whose family runs a rescue shelter and they are trying to raise funds to start building on new land. If that counts than here is a link https://www.gofundme.com/53pve8

For anyone doing trivia late, don't count the items that came out for the pet drive.

Does anyone have any recommendations for places to donate? I'd like to donate but we don't have an animal shelter nearby(at least not where I can get at it since I don't have a car.) Pm me if you know of a place please! :)

I commend our sites efforts to help animals in need. This is a very important cause and one near and dear to my heart as they say. I would donate some money glady, only thing is, I get paid once per month and my next payday is not until Feb. 3, 2014. Please do not think I do not care just because I am not able to donate now. I truly would donate money if I could. All of my paycheck went on my monthly bills and food of course and my transportation costs. I truly THANK YOU for helping out animals by having this very worthy event. I know the animals will thank us too in non-verbal ways.

How long does it take to get the pets once you've shown you have donated?

If we hadn't already rescued Odin we would love to help. But he will take some money to handle with his kitty cold, missing eye and up and coming big boy surgery. Good luck to all of you guys

It's always great when people come together to donate to rescues that desperately need funds and hands to continue to run and help these poor animals that have been dumped or born from pets not properly taken care of. We've worked with rescues by fostering cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies. Everyone of our pets is from a rescue. We have built shelters outside so there are places for animals we can't catch to get out of the terrible weather. This winter is especially brutal, and with how cold it is they need at least 15% more food and places to get out of the brutal wind. If you can't donate money you could make 'catboxes'. It just needs a box, even cardboard would work as long as you cover it with something water proof. Like garbage bags. Make sure all of it is covered except for a hole big enough for the animal to get inside. If you have some old blankets or clothes put them in the box for the animal to lay on. Make sure the box isn't in a high traffic area so the animals feel safe enough to use it and other people don't think it's just garbage and throw it away. Also make sure the opening is facing away from the wind. If you also feed the strays put it in a place that isn't too close to the box in case bigger animals come for the food. =)

Sorry for The huge post, and the space bar that doesn't like me, lol. I just wanted to say there's so many things you can do to help even if you can't donate to a shelter. It might not get you neat site pets but it could save some furrbabies lives.

Eri, when we email you about volunteering, are you going to email us back, or will stuff just be sent without a reply? Just wondering if I need to keep checking my email! ^^;;

Another very important way of helping for those who can't donate money but have a social site is by sharing the pets looking for a home. The simple act of sharing that pic increases the exposure to the public 100 fold. Many, many lives have been saved by this simple act.
And good thoughts and prayers are always appreciated as well.
